Just trying to get some advice on how I should go about clearing vegetation at the edge of a pond. There's lots of thorns and brown/green stalks that make it hard for you to bank fish. I thought about brushogging it but I would have to get the okay to use someone else's tractor. My first thought was to put the brush attachment on my weedeater and go at it but its a pretty big pond and it'd take a while. I don't wanna spray weed killer cause I don't feel like that's safe considering there are fish in it. Any suggestions? http://twitter.com/michaelcsalyer/status/317464438238244864/photo/1

You need a DR trimmer. The commercial on tv made it look easy to clear around ponds. On a serious note. Go to Home Depot or a rental tool company, you can rent, by the day, a walk behind bush hog. This should knock it down.

Spray it with Roundup (wont harm the fish) and burn it.

Rodeo is like Roundup, but it's labeled for aquadics. I've sprayed Roundup around our pond and it didn't bother the fish.

A good friend of mine (a fisheries biologist) told me that Round-up is perfectly ok (mainly because it's the same as the aquatic stuff) but do 1/3 of the pond at a time. Recommendations may have changed as that has been a few years ago.
