A group of us are going on the WMA hunt this weekend. Us anyone else going or have ever been. Were not sure what area were going to concentrate on yet but we know we will be going to different islands to scout. What should we expect as in deer numbers on the WMA?

I'm not sure how many deer you will see but I can tell you what you will see a lot of.........
Water! The rivers are out of their banks or at least they were 2 days ago.

I'm not sure how many deer you will see but I can tell you what you will see a lot of.........
Water! The rivers are out of their banks or at least they were 2 days ago. Yep!!! Good luck getting into the flooded timber to get out of the boat. But you may find some deer stranded on an island and take your pick.
Will track deer in Marengo, Greene, Sumter, Wilcox, Perry, Hale counties.

Little ones are chasing. Big ones don't seem interested.

lots of deer and great hunting when the woods are flooded. find a high spot and wait on them to swim by. one of my favorite places

Don't mean to dull the momentum, but be sure to read the regs on hunting flood waters. It's supposed to be at least 40 acres of dry land to hunt, I think. The wardens are pretty keen on looking for that around these river systems.

I dont think there are any islands one demop wma I wouldn't bother hunting around the steam plant or hale county bottoms it's gonna be covered up with folks
We will burn that bridge when we get there

It's good hunting down there u just got to get out there a and look for deer it's always a good time when we go down just remember its not always about the hunt no shucks there are some good deer down there

The big D is kinda like a deer dove shoot the best thing about this place is the store in Belmont. Good Times!

I will be there with a couple of buddies, been there one time before, and seemed like if you stay put you will see deer. Seemed to me too be one of the easier public land areas to kill a deer.

The WMA hasn't been crowded this year like in years passed. Although it sounds like it might be for this hunt. I got (3) buddies going this weekend.
