YOU WILL BE GOOD AT BOTH TIMES IN JANUARY. WE TYPICALLY SEE MOST OF THE CHASING AROUND THE 17TH IN UNION SPRINGS. I OWN SEVERAL PROPERTIES IN THE COUNTY AND THE RUT STRETCHES ALL MONTH LONG. ARE YOU HUNTING WITH A GUIDE SERVICE? I GUIDE THERE AS WELL, JUST CURIOUS.

You cant go wrong with either. From what i've seen over the years the deer on your property might chase one week and a property 2 miles down the road might not see any chasing until 2 weeks later. Really just hunt all you can in January.

Where around Union Springs? I killed a decent buck in Midway on January 1st a few years ago. He was freshening up a scrape. No chasing at that point, but the rut was heating up.

I am now hunting a few miles east of there toward Eufaula and I can say that our peak rut has probably ended. This is my first year in the club and I was skeptical when the guys told me that the rut was generally during the 2nd week of December. I am now a believer. I am a firm believer that a balanced sex ratio leads to an earlier rut. I have seen just as many young bucks on this property as I have does. It's 3000 acres and the club has tried to take 60 does per year for the last 20 years or so.

I USED TO HUNT ON A PIECE OF PROPERTY WE OWNED NEAR THERE. NEXT TO SWIFT PLANTATION. GREAT AREA. SAW PEAK RUT IN THAT AREA AROUND THE 10TH
