Down around Woodstock I can usually count on the rut starting around Dec. 15th. I think Shelby County will hit around Jan. 15th. At least where I hunt. Deer will rut at different times even if they are only a mile away. We have several different strains of deer in Alabama.

Same here they are finishing up ovrt the next week or so.This is north of Stevenson. finishing up, as in they've already started and they will be done in the next week or so? If that's the case they are about 7-10 days early this year, based on my observations over the past 10 years.

Not hardly time yet in my part of Jackson Co. I know a few are seeing some smaller bucks chasing and a couple big ones been killed , but not time for the studs to be on their feet 24-7. After the next rain and cold snap, it'll start getting serious.

Did see a good shooter this morning cruising but couldn't get a shot on him. Seems like things are just about like they always are around Stevenson.

In Perry county, two bucks killed this week, the one my son killed stinking bad. Saturday morning 4 of us were hunting with all of us seeing bucks and one large one missed. I would say the rut is on there.

Saw one lone buck cruising sat morning at 300. No rutting activity yet but some trees are getting beat up pretty bad around the club. I give it another week tops.

At my farm in Marshall Co I have zero activity. This time last year sign everywhere, scrapes, rubs all over the place. Was there Friday, checked all the usual areas and nothing. Even checked an area out of the way where we don't hunt that usually has sign and nothing. Scratching my head. Activity at my place has been way down this year. Last year saw deer every time I sat foot on the place. This year I've seen 1 doe and my buddy shot a doe. I have trail cam pics of many bucks, young and old, just haven't seen chit.

Heard a good chase in this morning that I couldn't see because of the terrain/fog. Saw a borderline shooter buck cruising around 9:30. Stunk so bad I could smell him when he walked past me. This was around Stevenson.
