I'm new to bow hunting, i've owned a cheaper walmart bow for years that i've target practiced with for a few years in the yard, well im ready to take that leap and purchase a really good bow.. i need some suggestions and imput, i will be hunting wma in south alabama and some hardwood bottoms on a lease, i've shot the diamond "bowtech" black ice bow which i really liked! smooth draw and just nice all around but the $899.OO pricetag had me cautious, today i shot a PSE bowmadness and i liked it alot for a single cam bow..light, compact and shooting around 320+ for a single cam bow..the $499.00 dollar price on a rigged package also had my attention.,,all of my friends own these 1,200-2,000- matthews and love them..i can't justify that kind of money right now getting into the sport of bowhunting...i need some feedback, anyone ever hunted with the pse bowmadness? or diamond bows? any imput of fingers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!! thanks alot,

Look for a place where they are clearancing last years bows. You can get a great deal that way. I shoot an '06 hoyt trykon and there was only 350$ spent on it. You get a good quality bow for a low price and still have the freedom to choose the sights and rest you want and like. Those bows you mentioned are all great bows and sound like they have good prices. But the thing is don't settle for something you are not 100% sure you will be happy with. Its not just a bow its an investment.

Try shooting several mid-priced bows. The Hoyt Turbohawk has impressed me for the pricetag. Mission Archery also has some great mid-priced bows.

If it were me:
(A) I would shop around for used bows, Mathews, Hoyt, Bowtech, PSE, Pearson.
(B) I would take my time, hitting bow shops (with shooting ranges) that would allow me to shoot several bows and help me decide what to buy, based on my draw length, draw weight and ability.
(C) Put off this decision til spring. Gun season is almost here and you need time to get acquainted with your new bow.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

Find out what draw length and poundage works best for you with the mechanical release you intend to use (most important IMO). You can get plenty of bow rigged for $4-500 if you take the time to look. I got my bow from e-bay barely used at 50% less with a sight and extra string. A $800, $1,200 or $2,000 bow setup doesn't make you any better hunter or kill a deer any better. Just get one you are confident with.
