What part of the season, or when, do y'all start rattling?
I've read articles that say (I think it was an Eddie Salter written article) you can rattle a buck anytime from the beginning of bow season to the end of rifle season.
I rattled one up last year and it was pretty exhilerating the way he ran in all charged up. Of course, that was in January.
I'd appreciate any thoughts y'all may have on the topic.

You can rattle right now. I have done so with success in the past. You just don't want to get to agressive with the rattling sequence this time of year. Just tickle them together. A lot of bucks, particularily young ones will test each other this time of year, not your full blown fighting, just teasing mannner. If you get to aggressive you could scare deer in the area. I have watched groups of bucks where they would half-way challenge another one but it didn't last long, so just shorten your technique and not quite so hard.

Got into a buddy stand sat evening. On the way up the ladder it snapped a couple of times. When I got settled in the seat I hit my rattle bag lightly. About 5 minutes later there was a nice mature buck at about 125 that was posturing. But he was downwind. I think he was coming to investigate the rattling.
