I have had my switchback since 2006 I think. I always wax my strings every couple of months. I went to wax them yesterday and could'nt find my wax. So, I was looking at my strings and they looked a lil fuzzy. The question is, Is it time for new ones yet?

It's probably a good idea. But I just changed mine out the other week after it being on for 5 years. It had some light fuzzies, but nothing bad. Most breaks happen where the sharp bends are. And some is usually covered up by serving where a visual inspection makes it hard to determine.

The 452X they're built out of will start to fuzz up when they get dry. After 3 years it's time to change the factory set out. As Dan mentioned, where they tend to break is under the servings and also at the end loops.

I left my Switchback in a very hot Cabin for three years and the strings Rotted. I kept them waxed too. I keep it and a Crossbow in temperature controlled place now.

I keep it in the case in my trophy room at about 70- 74 degrees. The strings look fuzzie, and I don't want to be the guy that gets hurt from a bow string or something. About how much am I looking at to get another one on? I don't have a bow press and will have to take it somewhere and have it done right.
