One of the best Jubilees in a long time happened last night and this morning. Looks like there will be another one tomorrow morning judging by the weather and current conditions. From the looks of it, and what has been seen by other folks, it was the wild west out there. Pisses me off really. A lot of folks work very hard to breed, produce, and release Flounder. Most of the money has come from the oil spill of 2010 from what I have gathered. Other funds make it happen also. We've had an abundance of flounder in the last 5 years because of it. To see pics of folks just piling up flounder like chord wood burns my ass. A lot of work went into rebounding this fishery. The limit is 5 per person. 14". We need to adhere to the rules and regs so we don't deplete the population. The pics I've seen today were appalling.

What was appalling about people picking up dying fish to keep as food? If they dont get them dont they die anyway?

No they don't die. That is a common myth people keep spreading to justify filling a cooler full of flounder.

I told ms gman i wanted to see a jubilee once we get moved down. I’ll take a couple home to eat but not more.

I hate to tell yall but if Mr.Greenjeans is around tickets will be written if you’re over the limits or keep undersized fish.

Haven't they made it a point to notify everyone that limits still have to be observed and saltwater licenses required?

I've told friends about it, but can't get anyone to drive. I have epilepsy and can drive sometimes and not others. I have seen pics that I would love to try it. Plus, my favorite fish to eat, other than crappie which we have here. Gonna be there in the next few years, I promise you!

The videos I watch show about half of them already dead in the water but so recently that you can still keep and eat them.

If you throw them back in the oxygen, depleted water, they swim back up on the bank. As I see it, daily Creel(?) limits are still in effect… So unless there is an exception to the law that I am not aware of, the fish are going to die either way. A redneck version of catch and release…filet-and-release would be mighty tempting to a bunch of local teenagers!
Either way there’s going to be a bunch of dead fish.
