I guess there’s a lotta bad about cameras being everywhere today but when you read all the stories about crimes solved and insurance fraud being proven including workman’s comp and ssi disability, stolen property recovered just from people being on camera every living moment, it’s makes you kinda wonder if it couldn’t be a good thing if it had limits. I see stories everywhere nowadays that you never woulda heard about in years past just because people don’t always think about the fact that so much is being recorded. I saw where a guy got hammered by the government for supposedly being completely disabled and getting check from 2-3 different places as well as other lawsuits he’d settled because of supposed injuries and they used videos from different places showing it was all BS.
Another guy got 30 years and ordered to pay millions back to the VA because he was supposedly 100% P%T disabled but had a YouTube channel advertising his personal trainer services and working out with as much as 600 pounds in different ways after claiming that he couldn’t lift 10 pounds without being in extreme pain, that’s a whole new level of stupidity
Ring door bells alone completely changed property crime rates after being out for awhile. I’m not sure how I feel about flock cameras in most cases but the sheer number of children they have saved has to give them some value.
I saw one article where an insurance company had asked for and received a bunch of ring footage from people in a guys neighborhood and used them as evidence proving that his work comp claim was a fraud,
We got a wrecker in pretty much the same shape it left in after having video of it being stolen and the police being able to track it from the time it left the shop to within blocks of where it was recovered.
I guess everything has its good and bad

I watched a video of a Florida cop saying he had irrefutable proof a woman was stealing packages. Said you couldn't sneeze without being on camera. He was adamant and a complete arrogant shit head.
Presumed guilty. She fought back. Found her own video proof she wasn't the thief and beat the charges before court. The misuse overrides any good that may come from it. I lean toward making it harder for proving anything.
Cops should have to ask for video from citizens.
Also saw a police department put up flock cameras without the city council knowing. I'm interested to see how that plays out. I am in no way a fan of a surveillance state. The patriot act showed us all how the system will be misused. But we never learn.

We have cameras all over the cabin property. It's nice to keep tabs on the place when you're not there.
We also have a main camera at the Beach Bungalow. We only have one entrance so we just have one camera. I can see the entrance deck area, my golf cart, the extra car we leave down here all the time, the parking area in front of the house, etc... I can easily change the detection and warning settings on the app. Plus I can turn it and zoom in remotely. I can even scan the parking lot in front of the house. Cool thing about it is that it's totally solar powered.
We also have cameras all over the community here. Apparently before we bought in there used to be some trouble here in spring break and in peak summer season from time to time. The owners got tired of it and the HOA added a lot of restrictions, limited the number of rental occupants and added a bunch of cameras. It's quiet as a church around here most of the time now. If your renters get out of line the owners will be fined by the HOA. It sounds strict, but we have loved it. We like peace and quiet.
All that said, I'm not for the government surveilling us everywhere. Too much opportunity for misuse and overreach.
I personally decided to put cameras up at our houses and our HOA voted to put them up around our beach community. That's different.

I’d have to say that I’m not ‘for it’ either in all honesty but if, and I know that’s an impossible if, it were used and used for the right reasons it could be very beneficial

If you’re on my property, you’re on camera. Thats the way I want my private property to be. Same here, it’s about the cheapest insurance that you can have today. Every building I own is covered inside and out with enough coverage to know who’s coming and going. It’s saved us a couple times. Several years ago one of the wreckers was involved in an accident and the cop had us at fault based on statements made by the other person involved and her husband. The dashcam in the wrecker clearly showed that she had run the light and hit my truck. Saved us no telling how many thousands of dollars. With all the folks in the world today that figure it’s easier to live taking from people who do work than to get a real job, I’d say every little bit helps.

I’m against big control government for sure but I have bling cameras at my farm and equipment sheds and around my building at my office. I’m sure they have saved me some headaches and at my home we have cameras outside that are hooked into the security system that my wife is in charge of. As for the flock cameras they monitor every vehicle entering or exiting or neighborhood and have come in handy several times according to Hoover police. I kind of feel like I don’t have anything to hide so watch me come and go. And if I have an issue they can look and see who it was just like I watch the cameras I use at the farm and shop. If some officer uses the flock cameras in an unauthorized way fire his ass

The patriot act showed us all how the system will be misused. But we never learn. Sheriff's dept can apply for a grant to feds, for them. The feds pay for them, and have a fee for them that has to be paid by municipality. If city council, decides to cut Sheriff's budget so their not paid for, they become property of the federal government, and no one can take them down. Also was told , and i dont know if its true or not. I dont really believe. But someone told me there were zero flock cameras before trump.

Axon, which is bigger and less known, started as TASER in the 90's then went into video surveillance and body cams during Bush's last term and Obama's first term. They are both NSA connected and are for the sole purpose of domestic surveillance, controlling our population, and stopping uprisings against the government.

The number of people in law enforcement they are catching using them inappropriately ought to be a wake up call. It has become just like our government, there is no real oversite.

I suspect they will be realizing this is no game to play as they are summarily being fired and prosecuted for felonies. High price to pay for a being curious about your wife or girlfriend, etc. The illegal access is easily tracked.

I haven’t ever used them but i know even in the 90’s when we ran anything from a tag to a criminal history there was a record of who requested it. Even back then folks lost their job or even went to jail occasionally for stupid stuff but it was extremely rare and more often than not it was dispatchers making a little extra money, not cops. I guess part of me wonders does it even matter, we all willingly carry a very telling device everywhere we go. I know for a fact the convenience of gps on our phones was primarily a DEA push.

We had a local GW lose his job for running tags and doing checks on a guy he thought was seeing a girl he liked. That stuff (women) will always get you in trouble.
The true mark of a man is not how he conducts himself during times of prosperity, but how he conducts himself during times of adversity.
