What is going on with all the recalls, poisonings, etc.

It seems like at least 2/3 are showing up every week.

The FDA was supposed to move these inspections to a State level. Not sure if that’s been done

I wonder if its because we are being made aware of the recalls more because of the modern media. It seems like there have always been recalls on some kind of food product. Also, products go further across the landscape than they ever have before. I've bought Conecuh sausage and Sister Shubert rolls in Pennsylvania.

If people could see what the USDA passes for human consumption, they'd quit eating store bought meat, especially pork. I work in the process industry. I've literally seen hogs with gang green with open wounds, pass to be processed.

I've been alive for 66 years. I have never known a time where there weren't food recalls.

Nothing really new except the 24 hours news cycle.

And if there really was fewer recalls in the past, it could be that American guts were tougher and more resilient (better immunity) than today so fewer would have gotten sick enough to report it or go to the hospital about it.

Folks died all the time from eating spoiled food and getting bad parasites before the modern era. Most dysentery that killed folks back in the day was Salmonella and E. Coli.

I remember me and my cousin Stevie running barefoot through the hog pen at Pawpaw's farm tryin' to keep that old sow from eating the calves off our legs.

I don't ever remember being checked for parasites.

As someone that has dealt with the FDA from the med device end for over 25yrs, they don't inspect ANYTHING. They only look at paperwork during audits.

I dealt with them also. It was a bunch of paperwork, that’s it.
I was also in the medical electronics field
