Friend of mine said he installed a small one in a shop for 6-700.00 from HD. He was bragging on it, and I know a lot of window units are nearly that high. His is 110v.
I’m prob gonna install one or two at my rental house late this year.
Questions, 110 or 220?
One unit with two heads or two separate units in case one fails. The price is actually higher for a two head unit.
Are they true self install? I’m pretty handy.
Any advice?

I’ve installed two. One in the house is a 240v and requires a dedicated circuit. This one also has to be purged and charged so I called a local friend who’s an HVAC technician. He took care of that.
The other one is in a man cave behind the barn. It’s 120v and plugged right into a 15 amp wall circuit. That one came pre charged and all I had to do was bleed air and seal the couplings.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

Outback is on it. I have a diakin has been great. It came Freon charged for 12ft of line. I had to pull a vacuum on lines and good to go. Mines 240v

I had Durastar's installed in my house, 4 of them with 2 outside units. Love em, dust problem in house was pretty much eliminated.

I installed a Mr Cool DIY for a cabin and got the 12K BTU with 110v. That was the largest 110 they had. Not sure what other manufacturers sell in 110, so I guess the square footage needs to be a consideration on size, which may drive 240 to be effective. But I did it myself and didn't need anyone to vac and charge the lines.

I have a Pioneer that was in my cabin when I bought my place. Ive had nothing but problems out of it. The coils are leaking from the inside unit and its 3 years old. Its a certifiable POS

You get what you pay for. Don’t get mad when the 400$ diy shits the bed and no one wants to work on it and there is no warranty. Mr cool customer service is terrible if you can’t do all the work yourself. Some online set ups don’t even have English on the data plate. Just do research and go the best route or go through a contractor

Awesome Air in Gordo. He seems to be competitive. Regardless I’d go 240V. AA installed one in a friend of mine’s camp house to replace a large window unit and there is no comparison in the efficiency or noise

A warranty and a local company that can service it are priceless unless you know what you are doing. I have one to cool a space of around 800 square feet, and it is very efficient and quiet compared to running window units.

How are they on your power bill during both winter and summer? The space I have it in is in Pensacola, so I don't deal with cold temps very often. My bill is about the same in summer and winter, ranging from $40–$80 per month. I have heard that heat pumps lose some efficiency below 32 degrees and perform even worse below 15 degrees. However, they do have hyper heating, cold climate units for those situations

They put 3 in a small house in gave my neice. Started freezing up, got sand mountain slayer, Akins, come take a look. He said it was way to much, Holler at him first .

How are they on your power bill during both winter and summer? Better than a standard heat pump but they don’t have electric heat for when it’s cold. They have sensors and eev so they are more efficient on average

I got a Mitsubishi 18k in a 16x40 leantoo on one of the sides of my barn with a ceiling height of 11’ down to 8’. Power bill for a/c, water heater, fridge, chest freezer and barn lights along with small 110v items is running around $65 a month. Got it set at 73 degrees and programmed to turn on at 7am, off at 6pm seven days. I did put a wall mounted shop fan beside it being the room is 40’ long.

I love mine! Blueridge units are first class. You have questions call the number and actually talk to somebody who knows what they’re talking about! Keep the units clean and you will be in great shape and happy.
