According to this and Reuters which is where this originated from it looks like Iran is about to get a deal which basically looks like they have won the strait. I'm sure there are more details to come and that its not as cut and dry as the news is framing it, so we shall see. Here is the Reuters news story but I cant get it past the headline without paying and signing up. Reuters News Story[i] BREAKING: US to lift its blockade on Iran once a deal is announced between Iran and Oman over the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the US expects this deal very soon, a US official tells Reuters. This is another major US concession to Iran, coming after Iran added the lifting of the US naval blockade as one of its 4 new demands earlier this week. If this is true, it is a total loss for the USA. Iran control the waters - Iran charges to pass thru -- Nuke is not even mentioned.
We won nothing but lost lives and billions.
Hopefully this is not how this situation ends!!!

I saw a clip of Jesse Watters two days ago where he mentioned that Trump isn't happy about transit fees, but knows they may have to stand to make the deal work. Watters then went on to justify it by saying that paying transit fees is actually standard practice in other major global straits and canals. After hearing that, and now seeing this Reuters article come out, I lean toward thinking it is true. I am also seeing that the shipping industry says it will not go along with this, so who knows?

Apparently this news is driving the price of oil down and that may be what ultimately Trump sticks with as something he can spin into a win before mid-terms. Folks will say the price of oil and gas was lower before he started this war but he'll call it a win anyway.
Maybe we can get back to the Epstein files as the cause of this war.

I don't understand ya'lls viewpoint. The purpose of us controlling the straight is not for us to own the straight. It's to choke Iran. The purpose of that was two fold. 1. Completely remove the Nuclear threat. 2. Make them stop sponsoring terror around the world.
Once those two things are done, the straight isn't our concern any longer.

Shipping companies aren't just going to absorb that fee. They'll pass it straight down the line. It doesn't matter if the oil is going to Europe, Asia, or the US, global prices will spike, and we'll see the inflation hit our own grocery bills and gas stations. It absolutely affects us.

Oil spiked to $148 a barrel in 2008 and then in 2022 it was $140 a barrel. The two highest recorded prices in history. Adjusted for Obiden’s inflation that would be over $200 a barrel today.
I’m gonna go out a limb and predict that your $150 estimate will not happen until (unless) we ever have to suffer another democrat president. Before you remind me who was president in 2008, I remember it was George W, Obama’s good friend and one of the worst RINOs ever.
