How's the herds looking? I don't have a place to put out cameras to see how they are coming along. Seems to be a pretty good growing season for mast crops and really good browse, so how are the deer doing?

We’ve done away with cameras on our place so we have no idea as far as that goes. The few deer we saw when we were there last month looked to be in excellent shape. Plenty of good food in the woods.

Over six inches of rain each month since March and three already in August. I don’t know if it’s El Niño related, just hope it continues through fall. The woods were dry and the grass was crunchy this time last year.

Gonna be 150's behind every tree........ Gonna be hard to stop at 3 if that’s the case. Not really!! I’d prefer to shoot and old mature fat doe or 2. They are better eating and they don’t cost me a taxidermy bill.

Gonna be 150's behind every tree........ You're talking about lbs, right? Yep……to be honest in most places I don’t think the amount of rain will make much difference……When the buck age structure and ratio are in such bad shape that young bucks are chasing and breeding for months on end all the way into March and maybe even April……After enduring all of that stress the amount of rain in July isnt gonna suddenly turn them into big bucks for the coming season…..Also, most of these bucks have probably come from very average doe lines and have been high graded to death ever since their first rack popped out…….When you get outside of a few certain bubbles here and there I think most of the state will just see the same average dinks they always see will a handful of stray good ones thrown in the mix……They’ll be no measurable difference this year over any other as far as quality is concerned in most areas
