When being a tourist in Yellowstone dont forget that those buffalo are big strong wild animals. Oh sheet! video https://x.com/Mollyploofkins/status/2076123348161995138 A tourist was seriously injured Friday evening after being thrown 8 feet into the air by a bull bison in Yellowstone National Park. Professional photographer Mike Macleod filmed the incident and said the bison was "angry, agitated and charging anything and everything." (No audio)

They have a name for those clueless tourists out there in Yellowstone- Tourons. I would never get any closer than 100 yards from any animal out there the couple of times I have been to Yellowstone. A bison can run 35 mph and get there in short order.

Not saying this is what happened because I didn’t watch the video, but some people think you can actually reason with animals. I used to live in a small town that had a woman like that. She always said “she had a way with animals”. One night she found a raccoon in the bottom of her garbage can, that couldn’t get out. Rather than just turn the can on its side, she decided to gently reach down and lift it out, because again, “she had a way with animals”. That coon tore her to shreds before she could get it off her.

I shot a wedding out that way 20 something years ago so one day we snowmobiled Yellowstone. We pulled over to watch some bison and the guide mentioned their tail will tell. One idiot jumped the guard rail and was quickly yelled at to come back. They’d had a Japanese guy put his son on the back of one and was taking pics before the bison exploded on them killing them both. They appear stuck in the snow or so and appear very docile until that tail curls up.

We were told you could pass by one that was ringing his tail from the front but never from behind. We did a 3 day snowmobile trip through Yellowstone about 30 years ago. We had to pass within just a few feet when crossing a frozen lake. My niece was riding with me, I have never been hugged that tight when we passed that bull.
Grandma said...Always keep a gun close at hand, you just never know when you might run across some varmint that needs killing...
