As though I need another one.. I have a nice Leupold 3.5-10x40 3hd at home new sitting in a box. Thinking about cashing in reward $ and getting something. I have to admit I am pretty smitten with the RA Gen 2 30-06 I bought last year. It's light and surprisingly, doesn't have much recoil. I like the 20 in barrel. And flush mag.
So the $800 range, what would be a good option? And caliber? Current chamberings, besides above are 308, 708, 30-30, 450BM, 6.5 Grendel, and 243.
If the scope was a 2.5-8x36, I would probably get a lever gun.
Or I could get a suppressor. I don't have one yet.

My go to rifle the last several years, is an Encore, 300 win mag.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

You've got pretty much all the bases covered already, but what's the fun in that. One of my favorites I've hunted with the past few years is a Tikka T3X Hunter in 6.5x55. Don't know of anyone that chambers it in that price range(or at all for that matter), but 257 Roberts is another classic.

I agree with you on the 257 Roberts. I have a FN Mauser chambered in 257 with a slim 23 inch cut rifled barrel. All I have used for deer hunting in the last 4 years.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

An awesome model 70 in 284 Win sold this morning on GB - a cool old round that nobody talks about anymore. Unfortunately, watched it sail by my comfortable high bid.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

Not really wanting a SBR. Proof Research makes a nice bolt gun with 16" carbon wrapped barrel but it's $3400. Not ready to drop that much coin on a limited use gun.
