Took my wife and a buddy offshore yesterday for scamp and snapper. We filled the live well with cigar minnows and Ly’s and struck out for our first spot at 50 miles. It was slow going on the way it because of the swells. I was only able to maintain 25-27 mph, which made for a slow roll out, but it was worth it in the end. Also picked up a barely legal Cobia on the bottom in 285’ of water. Great trip on the big pond ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/tJfPYzMc/IMG-9656.png)

Awesome trip! I haven’t been in the Gulf fishing in years. Lost my boat in the last hurricane and just haven’t replaced it. I’m getting the itch though.

Great trip! We went out and got our limit of snapper and bliners. So do you mind saying which direction you go to catch scamp? SE OR SW thanks

Great trip.
We caught bait around the ramp. Pig fish. Pin fish. Croakers.
Headed to the end on the earth. Rollers were the same way for us from DI.
Folks got sick. Kept the first ten legal snappers and put em back north to the ramp.
Round trip 38 miles. Only need ed about 12 live baits and had a live well full.

Me and a few friends went offshore with a friend of a friend. His boat is small and we only went 12-15 miles offshore. Caught some small snapper and a ton of amberjack..of course they are not in season. I've been told to catch quality snapper you have to go way out. Caught 3-4 AJ that were in the 30# range. My arse was wore out
