I eased up to my camp after the rain passed Sunday morning to mow and do a few chores. I did throw and mow with joint vetch and Alyce clover about a month ago and the weather has been ideal with the right kind of rains at the right times. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/njb5w7bL/IMG-3063.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/sMzr1t0w/IMG-3066.jpg)

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Put a tall exclusion cage on it. You’ll be surprised at how high it grows.
I’ve had it get 5-6 ft inside.

Has anyone sprayed their vetch ? Got some sickle pod in mine and wondering if the usual legume friendly herbicides are OK. Have Butyrac, Pursuit and Basagran available.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I have not, Kbush. I’m considering a clethodim treatment to retard the grasses but my plots have a variety of forbs that are being used now. I’m spot treating horse nettle with a backpack sprayer.

If you’re trying to build soil you really don’t want to grow crops of pure legumes unless maybe you just have a heavy, heavy crop of mature cereal rye to counter it with in the spring or something of that nature……Those legumes have a C:N ratio of about 10:1……They arent adding any carbon back to the system…..Its basically just burning "fuel"......In comparison mature cereal rye is about 82:1

I actually thought sickle pod was in the legume family It is a legume. Butyrac label lists sickle pod but one application may only suppress it. May require repeat application for control.

I checked one of mine today while getting a cam working. The deer are annihilating it! I will be surprised if they let it make any peas.
To GOD be All the glory!!!

Have a little stand of vetch coming up in the bed of my truck. Surely it’s doing well in my fields.
