Tiffin/Thor closed the small RV plant(Sprinters & 350 Transits) in Winfield
Legacy Cabinets closed their facility in Eastaboga.

Anyone else heard of any closures in the state recently

Pihakis Restaurant Group in Birmingham(Jim&Nicks founder Nick Pihakis) imploded closing 14 restaurants. Lawsuits are around $15 million so far.
They just opened the Valley Post development in Chelsea with 4 of their restaurants; shuttered in 6 months.

We went to the J&N here in Jones Valley a couple of months ago. Got the standard stuff: Que, slaw, beans, smoked turkey, and a jalerpeeno smoked sausage.

Both of us got the raging sh*ts within two hours and felt like death. The only common thing was the sausage. She had one bite, and I ate the rest.

Should've known better.

Wow, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience there. We have had the exact opposite; we have ordered takeout there 8 or 10 times and we absolutely love it.

J&N is the Applebee's of bbq....I don't understand what folks see in it. If you lived somewhere like the west coast or the midwest...a "bbq desert", I might get it. But there's too much good bbq around here to get something like that.

I am in front of commercial clients, businesses, professional firms and all forms of privately held businesses across the SE on a regular basis. Not seeing any unusual spike in closures or layoffs. That's not to say its not happening but I haven't seen it at a level that would indicate a significant slowing of the economy. If anything, folks are wanting to add good, qualified employees that will work and they can't find them. Anything that in the trades, requires skills or certifications when it comes to construction, sales, heavy mechanic style services and techs. Healthcare and financial services are still strong sectors. Nursing related fields are always in high demand.

He thought he could become a restaurateur with his money and he's millions in debt and being sued by a lot of people.

If you check that link you'll see it lists closings and layoffs going back several years, thats just a copy from February to most recent. For a state our size, thats about par.

I hate to hear any one go out of business and lose jobs. On a bright note, I did hear where Austal will be hiring over 5,000 people over the next couple of years.

Well we added a submarine parts maker and Huntsville is jumping

The restaurant business is Jennifer’s hardest to remain. They’re often mentioned as having a life cycle of……., very few make it year after year. In the shoals you gotta serve good chicken tenets to remain in business or so the joke goes. I can think of numerous ones that had great food that are long gone.
