Uses the same case tech as the 7 Backcountry. Now maybe my 6.5 Creed won't bounce off deer anymore. LOL.

The military is going to 5.56 rated to 82k instead of 62k. The newer cases help contain the pressures. I’m loading those NA3s two piece aluminum/steel cases. They’re loading some in 5.56 to 100k pressures and shooting in regular ARs.

I shot a deer two years ago with my 6.5C with Barnes VOR-TX LR LRX 6.5 Creedmoor 127 GR BT

It hit so hard, it blew out the entire left side backstrap. He was quartering toward me.

I woulda thought bolt thrust in the AR would have been an issue. That's what I get for thinking.

The. Way I understand it from the guy that developed those cases. The case contains the pressure and not the chamber. Brass doesn’t contain as readily. What I read about the military they’re also beefing up the rifles. I’m not gonna try it until it’s proven. Those Barnes in my SBR knocks deer back well enough. 13.7 barrel running 2750 fps 70 grain tsx

I just read about this today. Pretty interesting about the increased pressures for the 5.56.

I'm sure they tested it extensively still wouldn't run this in the summertime with 100 degrees and 98% humidity. It's the new better faster hunter catcher. Do I think I could outrun it and stay under Saami? No,do I think I could outrun it though? Certainly. Pays your money takes your choice.

I'm not liking these new high pressure rounds.

Bolt lugs shear off and the bolt ends up in the back of your eye socket....

Use a bigger gun with more powder if you want speed.

It's hard to imagine that the basic engineering isn't sound if they are bringing it to the civilian market...

The first retard forgets earpro and pops a round from a 16" barrel with a muzzle brake is really gonna be sorry at 80K PSI. This is definitely gonna be "suppressor required" territory.

Maybe so, and it's the military pushing this trend which is a good thing IMO.

But I'm a handloader and this just doesn't appeal to me and it hasn't passed the smell test for me... yet .

I’d rather stick with a regular 6.5 Creedmoor or 6.5 PRC.

I’ll continue to use the old .243. If you can’t kill one with a .243 you ain’t worth shit.

I’ve killed a couple with my 223 and 77 grain TMKs.

I get what you’re saying cause it’s ingrained in reloaders that pressure is the boogeyman not to be taken lightly

I’m kinda looking at this as it’s new step up and the possibilities

The newer steel cases are lighter and by all accounts stronger
The cartridge takes the pressure more than brass cases
However if I recall the military has ramped up their rifles to handle the pressure. I know if I go down that road I’ll have a LMT Enhanced BCG or something similar

I read about this too. I guess it's about the same as the +P ammo for handguns. The case takes all the pressure, my thinking, that pressure has to go somewhere. This is supposedly making the 6.5 creed equal to a little better than the 6.5 prc. So, are they admitting defeat on the 6.5? It isn't all that they are making out? Come on, just pulling some of your chains. Lighten up before you tear into me on this. What I was reading about the new cases, they are going to be very hard for reloaders to reuse them. You cannot annul them, they are going to have to buy new dies.

It's almost like Federal is trying to get guys that don't reload into the pressures that reloaders have been reaching for in their quests.

On the 5.56, yep, making the components tougher will certainly help the added pressures. I didn't read anything about this when parts of the military was choosing it's next rifle.

The new 6.8 Sig military rifle is hard to handle and heavy.
I’m assuming that’s why the military has been looking into the hyper velocity 5.56. The NAS3 5.56 cases are annealed and not reloadable yet. But for military applications it work wells. The lighter weights makes for more room to carry more ammo.

https://www.wearethemighty.com/tact...ervelocity-rifle-will-kill-sig-m7-rifle/

I’m reloading the 9mms but will admit after 10-15 reloads they’re becoming a pain. I’ve reloaded some cases well over 30 times and zero failures. For reloading the brass is just easier for now. I’m assuming the dies have taken some abuse where as the carbide dies for the brass just keep rocking. NAS3 is making more variety in calibers but their 5.56 is hard to come by. Took several months to get mine in. They load up easily and nicely. So far impressed but not shooting them a lot since I’m loading those with Barnes 70 grain TSX. Not exactly plinking rounds lol

The newer smaller cartridges will now play with the big boys. Technology has changed bullets and now cartridges. It’ll keep evolving and interesting to where this ends up. I’d say it’s exciting times like when hunting bows broke thru the 300 fps boundary.

So, if these high-pressure rounds go mainstream, it makes sense that someone would make one for the 6.5 PRC, no? That would be interesting to see.
