It's apparent that you want elections to be held with no ID presented. State issued ID's are generally free, especially to the very low income/minority LEGAL CITIZENS of this country who are the ones the Left cries about when it comes to voter ID. I guess that's just too much of a burden though.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

There's 4 DAMN YEARS between national POTUS elections. Just exactly how much more time does a person need to obtain their bonafide credentials to LEGALLY vote? Not that voting makes a difference anymore anyway, but..........

Now if you could go to the courthouse, post office, health dept, etc and say “Hey I need this so I can vote” and they provided a passport, up to date birth certificate, naturalization paper, etc for FREE then yeah
You can get an ID for free just for that reason.

Brother you aren’t following along. A STATE ID ISNT ENOUGH UNDER THE SAVE ACT. That might be what you present at the poll but to register you need.. again.. a passport, a birth certificate and ID with name matching, or naturalization papers.

Don’t get all uppity with me when you’re too dumb to know the requirements the SAVE act demands when I already just spelled them out for you.

What’s so hard about showing your drivers license AND your birth certificate to register? Not a damn thing. Just another excuse.

You guys really have selective hearing. I specifically mentioned about how that affects married women and how they have to jump thru hoops, in at least some of the iterations of the bill. It would require them to go thru processes of getting new birth certificates at least, because your birth cert has her maiden name and not her married name. If that costs money, it’s still a poll tax.

I already said I’m not against showing ID at the poll, it just shouldn’t be made overly hard or requirement money to register. Maybe they should add citizenship status to drivers licenses and make the process free.

I just looked it up to be sure, but all a married woman would have had to do was present a marriage license, along with her birth certificate, and her ID to register. She would not have had to go thru any additional “processes.” I thought you said you read the bill?

And if you lost it? Had a fire? Now you gotta buy a BC and a marriage license in addition to your DL. All which take a lot of time and money. It’s still a poll tax.

And keep in mind the save act has been pushed multiple times and so the language has probably changed here and there but from what I remember it said STATES should determine what documents meet the requirements and it does not guarantee that they will. Utah might be different from California and thus now you once again have inconsistency between states. It was not codified into the bill when I did read it.

I think if it passes a lot of you will be shocked when your wives, daughters, and mothers go to the polls and because they didn’t dot a T or they crossed an I, their vote for Tommy “Florida’s Finest” Tuberville goes in the trash. (Where it belongs)

It’s not that hard to provide those documents. In the event of a fire or just losing them, those are documents you should replace anyway. This is just getting thrown around as another convenient excuse not to require it to vote. I’d be willing to bet than most people who wouldn’t go through the small inconvenience to replace those documents aren’t gonna stand in line at the polls anyway. Just another excuse. That’s all it is.

Do you even realize how dumb it sounds for you people to say a married woman would need to get a birth certificate that matches her ID? You ever heard of a birth certificate with a woman’s married name on it? A birth certificate documents a person’s birth, not their marriage. Geez.

I was more inferring that it would get kicked back because they don’t match. Yes it is ridiculous to think you’d get your BC altered but what if they don’t accept your marriage license.

And when is the last time most of you needed to show your marriage license? Once you’ve changed your name, bought a house, and maybe needed it for work benefits it probably got stuffed away. You might not even realize it’s lost until it’s too late, and it all costs money to replace.

All to fix a problem that doesn’t even really exist. Even Morman locked conservative Utah said this was a non issue. Real voter fraud will happen with tampered machines, and ballots forged in a backroom. Especially with ICE reportedly at polls, immigrants won’t go near it.

What do you mean what if they don’t accept their marriage license? That’s one of the documents clearly listed that a married woman would need to bring along with her BC and ID, unless she already had a passport or the other qualifying docs.

It’s more than ridiculous to think a married woman would need to get her BC altered to match her ID because it isn’t even possible. Again, a person’s BC documents who they were when they were born.

What you really meant to infer was that it’s just too hard and too costly to provide these documents, therefore they shouldn’t be required to prove who you are before you vote. You’ve been brainwashed to believe that, but it really isn’t true.

It’s literally a poll tax. If your documents are lost in a move, a fire, in a safe taken in a theft, dog ate them, whatever, and you replacing them is a barrier to them to vote, it’s a poll tax.

We pay ungodly amounts of taxes to the government already, so our identifying documents should be FREE and as least hassle as possible if they are needed to vote.

But that’s what a lot of politicians want right? Voter suppression. The broke single mother/widow who might vote democrat doesn’t have a spare $50-75 to fix her documents so she lets the election slide by rather than go to the poll.

Or some fresh 18 year old who has no idea how all this works can’t get his birth certificate because his controlling helicopter parents won’t give it to him (maybe because they think he won’t vote the way they will) and he doesn’t know he can go to the health department to print a new one and just gives up?

I’m literally just going by the constitution and a very long standing Supreme Court case.

You dumb fuck we have real id in Alabama. The only time a birth certificate would be needed is if you do not have one of the many forms of id that suffice for a real id.
Read the bill.

Cost aside, if someone does not understand where to look to find the information that says what documents one needs to acquire their voter registration, then perhaps they have no business voting in the first place. Maybe they don't teach that stuff in high school civics class anymore which would be a societal failure of public education, but it would be easy enough to find out on the internet for an individual's location.
