Hate that happened, BC. If it was me, I would be waiting on that neighbors dog to step foot on my property again. I’ve got a cattle wire fence that separates my yard from the neighbors. Years ago we had a rat terrier named RJ that thought she was 10ft tall and bullet proof. My son and I were away at an archery tournament and my wife decided to cut grass. I had warned her repeatedly about keeping an eye on RJ when she was out because if she saw the neighbors dog she would run up to the fence and show her ass. Sure enough my wife had her out while she was on the mower and wasn’t paying attention to her. She just happened to look up and see the neighbors mutt slinging her around like a chew toy. RJ had run up to the fence and started yapping and the neighbors dog got ahold of her and pulled her through the fence. Luckily she didn’t get killed, but she wound up with multiple puncture wounds, broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Same neighbor has a big German shepherd now and my blue heeler, Lilly, can’t stand it. She’ll run at the fence barking her head off, but she’s smart enough to stay a couple of feet away from the fence. I dread the day something happens to Lilly. She’s the best pup I’ve ever had.

Losing a dog that you spend so much time with is tough. I know by experience it will make a grown man cry like a baby. Sorry for your loss!

Yeah when that dog gets out and crosses the line I would bury it and it will eventually that would be its last stroll. I know dogs are dogs but ain’t no use in having one that will kill another that’s just not good raising. Dogs like a mal have owners that keep them on a tight string for example cause they are very smart but very protective. Others not so much that’s just neglect in my opinion. Sorry for ur loss

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Makes me feel a tiny bit better being able to vent on here. I had a serious discussion with the neighbors yesterday. They were aware of what happened and were very apologetic and upset about the whole thing. They are really good neighbors and we have a great relationship with them overall, but I made it clear to them that their dog visits frequently and this is the third time in the past two months it has come over and attacked one of our dogs and this one resulted in a fatality of my favorite dog. I told them I didn't care if they had to put up a fence, or tether the dog, or get an invisible fence, but if the dog crossed the property line again it was going to have a 142 grain ABLR drove through it's skull. I told them I'd like to continue to have a good relationship with them but from now on that dog had a kill on sight tag if it comes across my line. If they had a problem with it then I would meet them in court with my Ring cam footage of their dog being aggressive and we would see how it played out. They offered to find the dog a new home and offered to pay the vet bills which were substantial. I buried Reese on Monday morning. Yesterday I went down to the creek and got some flat creekstones. Took some 4x4's and built a frame to go over the grave and then arranged the creek stones inside the frame and filled the voids with gravel. I ordered her a memorial marker to go at the head of the grave. We had a spot in our yard that forms a little hill where you could watch the sunset every evening and she absolutely loved that spot and ran to it every time we went out to play. That's where I buried her so she could see the sunset every evening on the hill she loved so much. I cried the whole time fixing up that little grave. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/MK57gHgP/IMG-7755.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/zXzWw53B/IMG-7754.jpg)
