Not as cool as 300gr axe post but still neat. Bought a cup of coffee at the Chevron in Ft. Deposit yesterday and got this in change. Awesome! same thing happen to me, walked out a store with 4 pennys and they all felt funny! All were wheat pennies, I think one was 1916 and another 1925!

Bunches of old pennies and even older Canadian pennies are circulating lately due to the mint not making pennies anymore. Apparently banks are emptying out old bags and boxes from the back shelves of their vaults to make up for the shortage.

Apparently banks are emptying out old bags and boxes from the back shelves of their vaults to make up for the shortage. Maybe that 1909S wheatie may fetch more money for my daughter's one day. Pulled it out of a vacuum at Walmart when I was a service manager at 18.

When I was about 12 years old I found a 1909 in an old rental house that we lived in. No mint mark on it though. It's in my safe deposit box with other old coins from my younger days.
I'd love to have a 1909 SVDB!

Its initials of the coin designer. Here is a blurb the internet The "VDB" on the penny refers to the initials of Victor David Brenner, the designer of the 1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent, which featured his initials on the reverse side. Due to public outcry, these initials were removed shortly after the coin's release, making the 1909-S VDB variety highly sought after by collectors.

Only old pennies I have is a drawer full of 1943 coppers. I'm sure they're not worth anything. I'll probably throw them in with some old copper wire and sell them for scrap metal.

I have a 1909 plain VDB that I got back in change many years ago when I collected. First year for the wheat penny and the last year for Indian head pennies.
