Are there any ranges around? Would that be something people would go to. I remember in the 90s and early 20s they were everywhere. Just not something ive seen anymore. Im thinking of setting one up

I had the same thought as well a little while back. I’ve moved on from it. But I still think a fella can set one up, and do ok with it. A lot of folks don’t have a yard more than 20 yards long.

There’s normally a tournament every weekend somewhere in the state from March til July. I got back into it last year after a 12 year break. https://bowhuntersofalabama.org/3d-shoots-parent/range-locationsdirections/![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/Y9ZFMgcc/IMG-8593.jpg)

I thought it had been about ten years since i was into archery, more like 20. But im starting to really get back into it. Bought 6 rihnhard targets, and got to thinking it wouldnt be very hard for me to put out 20. Some of the really cool ones are really expensive though.

im at one almost every weekend. you are more than welcome to come shoot in my group. 3d is the right kind of practice for bowhunters. not just standing there pounding a dot, you have to pick a spot to aim at. you only get one shot per target just like in the woods, you got to make it count.

That would be cool. Just got my 40 yard pin sighted in this weekend, so i probably need a little more practice, before i start in public, lol

I sure miss those days. Every little town in our area had a 3d course and club. Every weekend there was a shoot somewhere. Lots of food and fun. Most younguns now don’t even know what 3d archery is. I need to check if there is still any clubs in our area.

I'd say that Total Archery Challenge has made 3D shooting more popular than ever.

Im thinking of setting one up You mean for business purposes. M&M store in Leonia had one setup but he closed it Joey. De Wayne’s dead now but I went there maybe 16 years ago and he commented that he closed it but I could go shoot free if I wanted to. Apparently the replacement vitals were expensive. So he had shut it down. I remember he had tournaments there for a while. Don’t think the Indians that bought it have done anything with it. Dang shame. He was a nice guy and would give family’s who lost a loved one free pizzas. Always thought that was a nice gesture only in a small community.

3D archery is a blast, just don’t expect to turn a profit on running a range.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

McKenzie is the standard for targets in 3D. All of the ASA shoots are sponsored by McKenzie so its better practice if you go to a local shoot that uaes their targets.
