Anyone ever built one? Like one of the prefab ones. Looking for sizing tips/ideas for a shop/tractor shed/hangout place. I don’t want to do a barndo but want to put a small bathroom/shower in it. I want to park a tractor on one side and have couches/tv/bar/kitchen area on other with maybe a stove or fireplace to heat. Pics are welcome. Cost wise am I looking at? Trying to minimize cost yet make niceThanks

Doing that very thing right now. We did a Summertown 30x40, and framed in a 9x10 bathroom. I have about $26k in the building installed, including all materials and slab, and less than $10k for finishing it off. It's insulated. We're doing a mini split and 100" ceiling fan. Should be done later this week. We're going to hang out there while our home is being built, breaking ground on that 5/15.

Yes. Seems to be the way a lot of them are done now and should give a higher sheer strength than attaching posts to the slab directly. Interesting, I have seen them put posts in and plumbing then pour slab then install roof and walls, always thought they did that due to easier access. Guess the slab stays cleaner pouring after building built.

Exactly what I’m looking into except I’m looking at putting two garage doors on the 40 side with an overhang. Heard to spray foam it. You gonna put a kitchen/bar area in yours?

No structural advantage over attachment to the slab if done correctly. My only concern with putting the slab in after is the joint between the slab and the wall (how it is sealed).

Have some new neighbors that built a barndo as their main residence. I was surprised they poured the slab after the exterior posts and walls were framed up. It’s a nice looking home/barn, assuming this is more of a standard practice nowadays.

Summertown did the building, slab, doors and windows. We are doing the bathroom, plumbing and electrical.
