Not sure what I got into but I cleaned a hedge row and cut up a bunch of downed trees at the farm almost three weeks ago. Temps have been way above normal since the season went out but the green up has not occurred so I didn't notice anything. Must have gotten into a Poison Ivy or Oak vine and with the high temps the sap in the vines was active. Nothing showed up for about a week and then all of the sudden the rash showed up on both of my forearms. First a small few spots and since then it has moved up my arms and is now on my lower biceps. Read that PI can have a delayed reaction so I'm guessing that is what it is. Haven't had a serious case of it for 30 years.
Anybody ever had a delayed reaction like this? Other than Calamine lotion, any magic solution to getting rid of this junk.

Go get a steroid shot NOW! This is great advice. I've even had luck getting on a tele-med call and getting prescribed the prednisone pack. It will stop the spread and heal it up so much faster.

Go get a steroid shot NOW! Thats about all you can do at this point. Its in your lymphatic system and will take a while to work itself out. Drinking cranberry juice is said to help cleanse it out, but when I did that I think it just made me feel like I was doing something that may or may not have helped.

Steroid shot and a 7-day pack of prednisone.
On a side note: make sure you thoroughly was all of your gloves and any other clothing you were wearing in hot water to remove the oils, or you will just get it again.

Go get a steroid shot NOW! I had same situation to it in my right hand. Spread it to Right ear and forehead, once I noticed that got a steroid shot and took Benadryl every 4-6 hours Still took almost 2 weeks to dry up and reside, good luck! It’s rough if you have a good patch of it.

Will not help this go around, but I get it if I drive by it in the car it seems. A few years ago my brother turned me on to a product called Tecnu. You lotion up with it after any possible exposure like working in the yard, or turkey hunting etc. Then take a hot shower. That stuff is a game changer and a God send!

From what I read about this for a safety presentation I did, the urishiol remains active even when dead for years. Anything you touched needs to be cleaned well or you could keep getting exposed. If you think you were exposed in the future while working, wash well with soap to remove the urishiol and keep from spreading. Scratching the rash doesn’t spread it, scratching the rash with urishiol still present spreads it.

I ordered some stuff from Forestry Suppliers years ago and they included a small sample bottle of Tecnu. Good stuff.

Glad to know of the Tecnu product! It's been years since I've had a case of poison ivy but if anyone is any more allergic than me, I'd hate to see it! I have to have medical intervention asap! Being initially exposed and not knowing is one thing but then it's on clothing, which I get exposed to again unknowingly doing laundry and boom, I'm covered. Miserable on a whole other level!

This obviously won’t help you at this point, but I found a YouTube video years ago of a guy that recommend dish soap and a wash rag on exposed skin immediately after working near any area that may have poison ivy. After getting into what I believe was sumac cleaning off a fence line, it’s been my go-to method after doing any yard work near the wood line. Haven’t had an issue since. Supposedly, the dish soap cuts the oils and the rag moves it off the skin as opposed to just moving it around like a loofa would. Hope you get some relief soon buddy.

They make a poison ivy/oak wash that works very well. Any pharmacy has it.

Got the steroid shot and two days later it’s finally starting to dry up. Without leaves on the vine, I never knew that I got into until two days later. From biceps to wrist on both arms.

Trust me on this one. If you think the vines are bad, the roots are worse. Dont go digging in that stuff without gloves, long sleeves, and full pants.
