One day in the very distant future I-65 will have enough lanes for the traffic. Won’t do me any good. I will be long dead by then and I don’t plan on checking out any time real soon. The other night heading north it was backed up for miles northbound from about Alabaster to The Ham due to work. Thankfully that was on the southbound side. I thought about the poor soul headed to the beach that thought “Why don’t we travel at night when the traffic won’t be as bad”.

I drove it the other day. I hate to imagine another 10 years of growth The growth down here in and around Gulf Shores just about unparalleled compared to just about anywhere I have been in the state with the possible exception of Huntsville. In addition to all the rows and rows of houses going up in Foley, they are building a new Margaritaville on the intercoastal and it will have 400 housing units in it. The Margaritaville neighborhoods are really nice. And they are just for us in our prime. lol We toured the one in Panama City Beach last summer and kicked around buying a house there. The one in Baldwin County will sell out fast. It’s crazy how much the growth is there.

My wife’s parents had house in 30a in Santa Rosa beach and a condo on the beach just down from there. Her mother’s sisters and families owned a lot of houses thru that area. No lie, major holidays it’d be just us and a few others in the area in the beach. Grayton Beach was off the beaten path. Blue mtn wasn’t crowded and seaside and sea grove was the only thing really between Destin and PC I’m trying to get her to go back down just to see how unreal the growth is. Last time she was down was around 2015. A good live in PC during the late 80s army 90s. Lots of fun was had I’m guessing the fun is what’s bringing everyone.

Some cheap flights to be had from what I heard in the radio.

Do you remember when it stopped in Georgiana and you got back on 31 to Montgomery. My Great Uncle helped design and layout the Interstate from Montgomery to Brewton.

And our Governor wants to build a 4 lane in the middle of nowhere that we pay for 100 percent out of our pocket, nobody does this, instead of asking for federal money, which is the NORMAL way to do it. Spending our road money on this instead of paying our part of a 65 improvement is nuts.

I actually believe he could have made a good Governor.

It's our own fault. When everyone outside Alabama thought we were uneducated racists and mentally retarded inbreds everyone left us alone. Don't know who to actually blame but I'll pick LBJ and Howell Heflin and Wallace.

Small world. I live in Seymour Can’t say a lot about Seymour, got there late, got a room, got up, ate breakfast at hotel, fueled up, went to Main Trailer sales, looked, bought and left. We were in Seymour maybe 12 hours.

The drive to New Orleans from Montgomery was adventure of backroads and experimental bridges.

hell the city of alabaster has approved a new subdivision on 119 across from veterans park.. approved it for 4000 houses..
lets just use round numbers here. 4000 home each with a minimum of 2 cars per house. that an extra 8000 cars on the road in the next few years. i
it will have entrances on hwy 119 at veterans park and on smokey road

Look at the rooftops in Priceville and Athens just off 65. It’s like that up and down i65.

At the rate 119 road work goes, they may as well start now then. And maybe they will. I don’t live there anymore, but my parents live in a subdivision right where the expansion stops on 119. Based on the traffic at times when I go to see them, adding extra cars doesn’t seem doable

it will have entrances on hwy 119 at veterans park and on smokey road Is this in addition to the Walker Springs subdivision being built between Veterans park and Smokey Road? I believe Walker Springs is adding around 950 homes. Local roads in the area are already backed up, and really can’t support the additional drivers.
