I bought a predator 4000 probably close to 15yrs ago, on sale, $399, loaned it out twice. Only two times it was ever used. Pulled it out of the shed today. Still looks like a new one. Started on the third pull. I did have my uncle and my dad drain all the gas out of the tank and bowl when they were finished with it and put it back in the box. Good experience. Now the bad. They ran a $300 off sale on their 5000 super quiet at Christmas. I bought one. It wouldnt even run a skil saw. Cut one board, overload trip breaker on the second board. Took it back, got another one. Same thing with it. I took it back tonight. 20% restocking fee. That cost me $160+. They tried to give me a harbor freight gift card for the return. I asked if alot of those generators got returned. She said "almost never". I noticed there were two of them sitting under their discounted return items table as i was walking oit. Theres a recall on that generator for doing exactly what those tow did. I would recommend staying away from them.

I have the 2500 watt predator I bought in 2024. Used it to build my house with, and have used it pretty regularly on the farm as well. I know it has over 500 hours on it. Still has same oil in it that I put in when new. Ran circular saw, table saw, charged a heap of batteries as well. Use it to run pancake air compressor, and all kinds of things. It’s been a dang good one. Bet it will crank right now in 3 pulls. Guess there’s good and bad in all of em.

I had a wild hair for a quiet generator. I hooked up some LED flood light at my sawmill, in case i wanted to do something down there at night. I needed something to power them, my table saw and misc electric tools. I should have just pulled the old generator out of the shed to start with.

Project farm will save you money..but to be honest..his reviews of harbor freight is usually very possitive..their daytona jacks are awsome..like..out performs snap on..i just bought a 4 ton at the parkin lot sale for a hunerd dollars off..this thing is awsome

We only use harbor freight generators at work. So far for the price they have been good

I just used my 4400 watt ironton generator at 3:00 am this morning. yeah it's a $130 new generator (northern tool) with a chonda motor that iv'e had for 7 years. I shutoff the main and plugged a suicide plug in to power %70 of my house. As little as I one would normally use a generator it pays to go cheap. whether you spend a little or a lot your not immune to problems that plague all generators.

The life of them is running all the gas out every time, and keep dirt dobbers from filling every hole. I’ve had good luck too.

I have 2 10yo Champions. One small 2kw inverter that has been a workhorse. Strap it to the 4wheeler basket, use it around the house, power a few appliances when power is out, etc.
The other is 4kw suitcase on wheels is a POS. Replaced the fuel tank, carb, etc. When it did run a hairdryer could trip it

Bought a 3500w from hf back in the early 2000's for about $130. It was when they'd send the tractor trailers around and have a "sale". Learned real quick to NOT use cut off switch and just turn fuel off. That thing was money for 20+ years. The steel tank finally rusted to the point it would continually clog filter. Got one leading up to the ice storm that didn't happen this year. Its still in the box. Hope it functions whenever i unbox and fuel it up.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

That's interesting gman. Brother and I had a pressure washer from there for a number of years that was the same way. If you cut the ignition switch off, you'd play hell getting it to crank back up. However, if you shut the fuel off and ran the bowl dry, it would crank right back up.

I have two 4000 watt Champions that are both 15 years old. I bought one, then my dad bought one, that I ended up inheriting. Both have been amazing. Only thing I’ve had to do was swap out an on/off switch that a friend of mine accidentally broke when he borrowed one of them.

I have a 5500 inverter generator and it's been great. I ran my camper at the club and as long as I didn't try to run the AC and the microwave at the same time everything was good I was only running it on the 30 amp plug so that explains that.
