As of this AM , news says we are not providing naval escorts for ships moving through the straights. Why are we not escorting ships traveling to and from the USA or our allies ? What's the hold up, any idees ?

What's the hold up, any idees ? The Navy says its not worth the risk. I agree with them. Not only would they be an obvious target the tanker being escorted would be an obvious target. Defending yourself and another boat is asking for a critical failure. If that happens, how do you explain it and what assurances does that give to other tankers? Plus, if a single US sailor gets injured or killed during the job, then who looks like they failed?

Ships are moving through the straits and are turning off their transponders so they can’t be tracked and they will turn them back on once clear of the strait

The Strait is only 30 miles wide. The actual shipping channel much smaller. A surface-to-surface missile travels close to 700 mph. Any escort would have less than a minute to detect, coordinate, lock, and fire before it reached the vessel. Send multiple STS's and the chances of one or more reaching their target is fairly high. Can't believe securing the Hormuz Strait was not a high priority when planning the initial attacks.

What's the hold up, any idees ? Because we don’t want our Naval men and women dead. There are mines in that water. Escorting only multiplies that risk. This isn’t a 4-week war. We don’t get to decide that. Buckle up for the long slog.

It's a very strategic location, not much could get by us there.

Resistance and regime change may be slow to change , but as far as targets to destroy , in a couple of weeks there won't be any .

So this picture is real, its not AI. Its not directly in the strait, its from one of the fueling and export spots right next to the strait. It doesn't look like much business is going to be going on right there anytime soon. https://x.com/calvinfroedge/status/2031785416131518501

This is bad for the world. I read where Iran said oil will be 200$ a barrel. Someone better start planning something. It's hard to believe that with only 20% of the worlds supply going through there it would affect things so bad.

That fire scene in the previous post is Oman. Here is the drone strike on the big oil tanks. https://x.com/visegrad24/status/2031786080119164977

On a related note, wonder if we're using A-10s for drone killers? UAE has been shooting them down with Apaches , using their 30mm M230s. One would think a Warthog would be a very effective drone killer. I know they're scheduled for retirement , but this looks like a good spot for them do do some work before retirement.

Saudis and Oman have pipelines to avoid the straight. they may need to build a few more with all their money.

Air Force Brass aren't gonna let that old dog do anything if they can help it. They've fought to get rid of it since it's inception. Legendarily capable plane.

It seems like everybody loves the A-10 except the brass. I wonder why that is?

It seems like everybody loves the A-10 except the brass. I wonder why that is? Don't know but a little research reveals the got new wings and a ton of upgrades the past 20 years. Including fly in all weather, hi tech weapons control from the helmet, smart bomb technology and a mating of F-16 stick and F-15 throttle . They've spent A BUNCH of $ on them making them even more capable for low and slow work. Sounds like they're perfect drone busters.

On March 11, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is issuing a warning to civilians that the Iranian regime is using civilian ports along the Strait of Hormuz to conduct military operations that threaten international shipping.
This dangerous action risks the lives of innocent people. Civilian ports used for military purposes lose protected status and become legitimate military targets under international law.
CENTCOM urges civilians in Iran to immediately avoid all port facilities where Iranian naval forces are operating. Iranian dockworkers, administrative personnel, and commercial vessel crews should avoid Iranian naval vessels and military equipment.
Iranian naval forces have positioned military vessels and equipment within civilian ports serving commercial maritime traffic.
Although the U.S. military also cannot guarantee civilian safety in or near facilities used by the Iranian regime for military purposes, American forces will continue taking every feasible precaution to minimize harm to civilians.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.
