Had mine done three years ago and its better than new. Recovery is very painful no joke and it took about a year until my knee was full strength. Should have done it years earlier and avoided years of arthritis pain. The PT is painful but do what they tell you and it will be fine. My doc told me the only patients who have trouble are the ones who don't do the PT as directed.

Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement. Dr. Cain and the team at Andrews are awesome and I know that the rehab will start as soon as I wake up from the surgery.
Gotta keep moving....

Yea, you'll be walking at least a little from day one. Get a cane, walkers suck and good luck

I forgot to mention, get you a large gel pack for post op knee surgery from Amazon to keep in your freezer and when you use it, just wrap it in a pillow case to put on your knee. I got mine from my therapy place and it was less than $25.00. It'll be money well spent. Good luck with your recovery.

Got a Game Ready Chiller slated for rental, have gel packs and also wife makes a ice bag with water and some vodka to chill it below 32 deg F. works great. Since I quit drinking, I can't take a "medicinal" nip out of that bag.... LOL!
I really appreciate all the support and positive energy. Thanks all and this is gonna be ok someday....

Easiest way to keep ice ready for the cooler is just buy some bottles of drinking water and keep 3 sets frozen then rotate as the ice melts. Super easy and much less mess.

Will need to time it for being able to deer hunt this fall and winter. I hope!

Dr. Lyle Cain from Andrews (Crimson Tide Knee Doctor) did my right knee in 2016. I am back to hunting ridge tops, hauling a gun, pack, and climber with me. I had lost my ability to do that before. So yes, I would recommend him.

How old were ya’ll when you had this done? I’m 56 now, and had my knee rebuilt twice, once when I was 19 and last time about 20 years ago. It swells up pretty much every time I work it hard…

64 and had a total replacement in Dec of 2025, but prior to this I had had 3 different surgeries to the same kneee in the past 35 years or so which due to it was now bone on bone that I had put up with the pain for years and years. "THEY" always said you'll know when its time and THEY weren't lying
