I have written this to try to reach the Republicans of Alabama. I know, maybe not everyone will agree, but I'm trying to do my part to protect our land and water. Please take the time to read it. Thanks.
Attention outdoorsmen and nature lovers of Alabama!!! Please take the time to read this. If you are someone that loves hunting, fishing, camping, or any outdoor activity in the great state of Alabama, this impacts you. I’m a Christian, a husband, a father, and I’m a lifelong conservative. I lean this way for many reasons, just like most of you. I was born and raised near Guntersville, AL and still live in this area today. I spent the majority of my childhood outside, and I still do. I choose to still call this area home because of the outdoor diversity. Sadly, one of the things “conservative” politicians gets wrong is the environment. STAY WITH ME HERE, I’m not talking about solar farms, electric cars, or diesel emissions. I’m talking about protecting our waterways and our woodlands from industries that choose to pollute. It seems our politicians would rather see economic growth from the highest bidder instead of working to protect our environment and focus on our 3 billion dollar hunting and fishing industry. By the way, the hunting and fishing industry supports more than 25,000 jobs in Alabama! Every true outdoorsman that I know wants our lands and waters protected. It’s the only way to continue our way of life and to see our kids and grandkids get to enjoy it. Sadly, the our politicians are pushing a bill (SB71/HB162) that will take away Alabama’s right to create environmental protections that go beyond the federal guidelines. They openly stated that if Alabama wants something changed after the passage of this bill, they will have to reach out to the feds. If you’ve ever tried to reach out to even local government organizations for help, you know how much of a train wreck this would be. I never thought I would watch Republicans so happily vote to take away states’ rights. To be fair, the new bill states that changes could only be made if the best available science was used. We have all heard that before. Anyone remember the science from Dr. Fauci and covid? I hope we aren’t to blind to think our side wouldn’t use science against us, just like the other. Sadly, like most things in life, science can be manipulated by the man writing the check. My family and I drove to Montgomery for the house Agriculture and Forestry committee meeting. I used one of my off days. A day that I had planned on being in the woods, but instead was spent in the concrete jungle of Montgomery trying to protect the future of hunting and fishing in our state, to offer a conservative viewpoint. They only allowed 3 people in opposition, and I wasn’t one of them. I watched Democrats in the room ask questions and express concerns. Not a single Republican opened his mouth to ask a question! To top it off, after the committee meeting, I walked and talked to one the legislatures. On the way back, as I passed Danny Crawford, the board chairman, he stated to the man he was walking with, “I’m just glad none of our guys started asking questions.” Now, this should concern anyone who votes! To think, it’s a good thing to not ask questions? Sadly, Mr. Crawford is not only an Alabama representative, but he is also on the Alabama Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus. Someone with that attitude is the last person I would want representing the Sportsman of Alabama! So, as a Christian, conservative, avid sportsman, and lifelong Alabamian, I urge you, even beg you, to contact your state legislatures immediately, as this bill is ready to be voted through the house. Do this for you, for your neighbor, and for our future generation! Demand more from our politicians! WE DARE DEFEND OUR RIGHTS! Keith Lay

It baffles me why a Republican, or anyone for that matter, would vote to give up States rights

There's also a local talk radio show that you might check with. It used to be the Phil Williams "Rightside Radio Show" but he was appointed to be the US Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. There's a couple of gals on there now that are heavy into politics....... https://yellowhammernews.com/rights...nation-of-phil-williams-as-u-s-attorney/

A good letter and we must all call or send letters to those that represent us in Alabama's legislature. Not trying to hijack this thread but,,,, but what follows here very much speaks to this letter.. I just read last night of a solar panel farm in Baldwin county that's a done deal thanks to the public service commission. It's to be nestled in Stockton , al ..a small very nice and quaint town that I pass through all the time going to a WMA gun range and to boat ramps on the Tensaw river and it's lakes. 4,500 acres of land got sold that was registered to Roberts bros... half the land will be developed for the solar panel farm and the energy that is produced from the panels is to be used in a new META data center being built south of Montgomery , al . .. Noting has been announced as to what they plan on doing with the rest of the land. All of South Alabama needs to respond to this move by the PSC . One day it's an unannounced meeting and moments later , wha lah ...you have a multi million dollar real estate deal done. https://mynbc15.com/news/local/metas-solar-farm-plans-face-opposition-in-baldwin-county

They will have to make decision about how they want to deal with that. It would be too expensive and time consuming to excavate it. So they can either go around it or bring in a ridiculous amount of over-fill to cover it a meter deep.
