Real curious as to anyone what has experiencing pressure spikes/sign while loading 5.56 around max with heavier bullets 70gr or so. I see it mentioned all around the web just curious. It’s very easy for me to get without the hazmat and my hub likes it.

Tac shoots pretty good in my CZ 527 but it shot best with 55 gr bullets. One load with 69 gr Sierras shot 1" regularly but it was at 2800 fps. Not lighting speed but that was the sweet spot in that rifle and plenty fast enough to hunt with. In my Ruger 77 MKII, it shot 63 gr Hornady's good but I didn't find it to be outstanding in either rifle. In my Mini 14 Ranch rifle it did shine and was very clean burning but, again, it was best with 50-55 gr bullets. If you can find it, Winchester 748 and ReLoder 15 were the stars of the show. Tach is really great in a 308 and as a bonus, it is one of the cleaner burning ball powders. 748 and Bl-C2 work good in a 223 but really light loads are a bit dirty. They get better under more pressure.

TAC isn’t considered temp stable. Temp increase = pressure (velocity) increase
Winter Max load doesn’t equal Summer max load.
Stay below summer max load at all times and don’t let one soak in a hot chamber long and you won’t have any problems.

Ramshot TAC is one of the more temperature stable ball powders available. Its far better than H335 which is why the military switched to TAC many years ago.
It does show more temperature instability than Hodgdons Extreme line of powders.
I think TAC works best with bullets in the 55-65 gr range for the 5.56. Might want to go with a little slower burning powder for heavier bullets.

Though I didn't shoot much last year, I loaded a good bit of TAC for service rifle competition in previous years, mainly for the 200 & 300 yard stages, with a 77 SMK. It's accurate enough, and I didn't notice any pressure issues with it. I was somewhere around 23.5 grains. It didn't set the world on fire for me at 600 yards, so I use a different powder for that stage. TAC was a bit more economical to load for the shorter distances.
I didn't load any last year, but I think I remember it metering nicely...

I shoot TAC with 77grain TMK in my 223 bolt rifle. 22” barrel getting 2800 fps.

I guess you can see why I asked, lots of differing opinions. I finally found this Think I found the answer incase anyone wants to know, here it is. /b]
First I would like to thank you for your interest in Ramshot powders.
All of the powders sold under the Ramshot or Accurate brands meet or exceed the military specification for hot and cold stability. As with anything some powders are better than others. Single base powders such as Varget can be made more temperature stable than double based powders such as Accurate 2520 although there are trade offs to anything. While the nitroglycerin in a double based powder makes it less temperature stable it is the component that makes double based powders cleaner burning and allows them to attain higher velocities than their single based cousins.
In both the single base and double base lines of powders some powders have better temperature stability than others. Ramshot "TAC" is one of the most temperature stable double based powders available. It is this very reason that so much of it is being used for military applications in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Even under extreme temperatures Ramshot "TAC" will vary less than half of what the military will allow.
