I believe it.
More than likely it was probably raised from a fawn by a human and that's why it had the bows in its antlers. Used to have one running around on one of our clubs in Chambers Co that had a red dog collar on, and I knew the people that raised it. They would open the door and whistle and it would come in the house and sleep on the rug in front of their fire place. That deer on Spann's post was probably used to humans.
You ever heard the term "rut crazed". It's a real thing and the thing about bucks is when they get in that condition they will attack. A buck used to humans and in a rut crazed condition is a dangerous animal. Lots of deer farmers and people who pick up fawns and raised them secretly have been killed. I know a guy in Montgomery County who had a 3 year old 6 point in his high fenced backyard back in the 80's. One day he was in the back yard playing and running around with it, and the next day he had to beat it to death with an ax before it killed him.

That deer, Bam Bam, was a regular at my cousin's house and shop. It was orphaned as a fawn and raised by a family nearby and eventually a small community . He roamed the neighborhood and actually acted like a dog. He would lay on porches with folks dogs. My wife and I were out there last Summer and he followed my wife and my cousins wife around in the yard like a dog . When my cousin was out in his shop with the door open , Bam Bam would walk right in and make himself at home. Mr. Counts was trimming another cousins fruit trees when he " choked out" Bam Bam.

We used to bulldog does off the front of airboats down in the The everglades years ago. You learn real fast to let go after you rolled em . They were small deer but every once in while you’d catch a hoof and get a dam good bruise . And yes alchohol was in play 🤪

We had a young deer run into the shop where I worked at and a guy grabbed it to put it outside. That deer beat his ass to the bone. Ripped all the clothes off him.

I shanked a pig on a dog hunt and felt like that was about as primitive as you could get. Guess I got to add choking a deer out to my list.

I caught a wild pig years ago at little river wma. It was a crazy situation. Im just glad mama pig wasn't around. Tied it to the front rack of my 4 wheeler alive, and it whipped my ass, but I won...100% true story, ask the people at the red light in front of Walmart. People were freaking out with the racket it was making. Lmao 🤣
Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

My FIL "killed" a buck drug it about 250 yards out of the woods and loaded it in the truck. Drove to the gate and was locking it back when he heard a thud. Looked at the truck and the buck was standing up looking at him. He jumped into the bed and tackled the buck. Buck thrashed around and his antler caught my FIL in the shoulder requiring 16 stiches. He somehow drove the bucks antlers under the toolbox. Looking for something to kill the buck with but his rifle and jacket, with his knife in it were in the cab. He opened the toolbox lid and felt around until he found a piece of an old ski rope. Put rope around the bucks neck and used a socket handle to tighten it down. He did it until he heard a POP and the deer stopped moving. The rope had tightened enough that it broke its neck.
Ever since that time he would tie one of the front legs to a back leg before starting to drag. If he wasnt going to mount it he would shoot it in the brain.
He was a really big strong man and that deer kicked his ass. He was black and blue all over.
I love my country, but don't trust my government.
