Whats yalls go to bait for spotted bass in creeks and small rivers? We usually just throw spinnerbaits or small buzzbaits. Just wondering if theres something else that catches them better.

1/4 oz (Smallest size) snagless sally with a twin tail trailer. There’s not a better creek bait made IMO. Spots and redeyes will crush it.

Hard to beat a spinner bait as a general purpose creek lure. If the creek is big enough to have shoals, I've found I catch more right in the shoals with a shad colored crank bait. In the slower water, I've got a lot of confidence in a 4" caffeine shad rigged with a treble hook. In the deep holes, few things will beat a Hit Worm rigged on a shaky head.
Most of the larger bass we catch in the river will have crawfish in them, so you can't go wrong with a bait that imitates those.

Small rooster tail, the one with the propeller spinner killer.
Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

We have so many blowdowns in the creeks and rivers we fish, its hard to use a roostertail or H&H because your constantly getting hung up. Basically have to throw something that is snagless. Havent thrown the smaller snagless sally in years, may have to give it a try again. Been so hot this fall/winter we did some floats instead of hunting. Caught over 100 spots on 2 floats, lot of dinks, but still lots of fun.

Strike King makes a 1/8 oz spinner bait that's shaped just like a larger safety pin type spinner bait and it is far less prone to getting hung than a rooster tail. I couldn't tell you how many spots and redeyes I've caught on them through the years. Walmart has been carrying them since the 70s, one of the few things I know of that they always seem to have.

Buzzbait when they biting in the summer is a good addition to any tacklebox for some topwater fun. Fished the Elk River backwater off a creek one time and caught seceral 3lb bass and other trash fish. Anything will hit it! Still remember catching a blackfish in one creek and a chain pickeral in another in Florida. Fun watching them bust it! Also, caught a 6lb bass in a small pond that was only about 30 yards wide behind a hotel up in Tennesse on vacation. Seeing them busting that topwater as a kid will always be something you will remember!
