Just wanted to see if anyone here uses an insulin pump to manage their diabetes and how you like it. I went to a new endocrinologist for the for the first time today and as bad as I don't want to I'm fixing to give in and get put on an insulin pump since I am a type 1 diabetic and have to do something different than what I've been doing. Also for the ones that have one if you don't mind me asking which pump do you have?

I’ve had one for about 4-5 years. I thought I wouldn’t like it, because I didn’t want to feel like something attached to me all the time. But honestly it hasn’t been that bad. I just paired it with Dexcom7 and it helps a lot. I didn’t realize how fast your body turns food to sugar. It’s fast. So I’ve lowered my A1C by about 2 points. I do get tired of changing sites but it does make giving insulin easy.

I’m in the same situation and will probably go that way my next Dr. visit in March. Last appt he suggested the tandem that syncs with the Dexcom so that’s what I’ve been looking into.

Her A1C runs about 6-6.5.

My wife has a CGM and Omni Pod insulin pump that work in tandem with each other and they’re linked to her phone so she can decide the amount of insulin per meal and the CGM will alert the Pump to give small doses of insulin throughout the day and night to keep her blood sugar levels down
This set up has been a game changer for us
Her A1C was near 6 a few weeks ago
She is type 2

I have two sons and a granddaughter that are diabetics. All three are on a pump. One son is also a nurse. He has been on a pump for years. If you would like to talk to him PM me.

I’m Type 1. I use a Tandem Mobi paired with a Dexcom G7. I control it with my IPhone. I refer to type 1 diabetes as a thorn in the flesh but it is what it is. It’s better than giving myself a shot every time I eat. The Mobi is small and easy to hide. My last A1C was 5.9! Yes it’s a pain but a pump is the only way to go with insulin dependent diabetes!

My 11 year old son got diagnosed last summer with type 1 and he is going to be going to the pump classes and looking at them at his next doctor's visit. Type 1 is awful thing to deal with but its his life now and we just have to help him best way we can. He has the dexcom g7 sensor now and we like it. Just gonna have to pick a pump that will go with it. Sports has been a pain in the butt at times but he is doing really good and keeping his head up about it.

I have been a type one for almost 25 years. My daughter has had it for 18 years. We both are about to go in pumps. I tried a Medtronic years ago and hated it but the new ones are a game changer. I am going to give the twist a try.

I am going to give the twist a try. Same here i have been fighting it for years but I am starting to worry a little of what might happen down the road if I dont get on the pump. I found out I was a diabetic when I was 15 and in May I will be 36 so still kinda young.

Just something I've noticed since starting this thread and reading everyone's responses which I really appreciate and it's helping me alot but does anyone use the freestyle Libre 3 sensor with their pump or is everyone pretty much using the dexcom sensor? I've been using the freestyle Libre 3 sensor for about a year and have been really happy with it but if the dexcom works better with the pump then I might see about changing over to a dexcom.

Dexcom because it's covered with my BCBS insurance plan, Libre is not.

For the most part, my endocrinologist sets the parameters. I know how and understand it, but she is the doc, so I follow her direction. The pump is “auto” in that it will correct and adjust with algorithms, but you still have to bolus after you eat carbs and such. I have found I have to give some extra when I’m lifting weights, too. You just start kind of learning how your body reacts to different factors, and the decom really shows that well. The graph and trend data has helped me a lot. I know when to give correction bolus or just go jump on the treadmill for a few.
