While trying to catch bluegill for bait, none other than Rocky Drake pulls next to us and offers us some gizzard shad. He had plenty and wanted to remove some of them from his bait saver tank. We had a nice chat. He and Ronnie were out that day only because the weather was so nice. Not the first time we have crossed paths. Thanks to Rocky, my first fish of the day was this 28 lb'er. The rest of them were 10 lbs or less. For some reason, the bite still stops around 1pm, same as the summer months when the water temps are 20 degrees warmer. Those wanting to catch big blues, they are starting to stack up in the deeper holes on the river.
