You trophy hunters are going to get things to the point that I quit even buying a license. I don't have to buy a license now because I hunt my own private property. I also game check every deer that I kill and so does everyone that hunts my place. I use cameras to access the heard and I like knowing that there is a nice 10 point that usually comes through about 10 minutes behind the nice 8 point every day during early season. It keeps me from killing the 8 point. I work really hard and spend a lot of money on my place. I own it, have the deed in hand. I'm getting tired of folks (Government and other hunters) telling me how I should hunt it. My son, wife, and myself have killed our limit of bucks every year since the 3 buck rule has been implemented and we are going to continue to do so. We don't need new regs I agree. I hunt my own property and it shouldn't be up to someone else to tell me how to hunt, and what I can kill. The state already tells you this through current laws and regulations.

I shot a doe earlier this season on a cut cornfield that had a feeder on it.
Is that considered baiting? The cut cornfield isn't , the feeder sitting in it is baiting , in Alabama . If the auger on the combine spills a pile of corn in the field that's not baiting , if you bring in corn and strow it in the field , you better buy the state's stupid permit.

And the state tells you they own your land now if you dont pay the few hundred you owe them each year on a half million piece of land. Seems like some kind of extorsion but the state makes the rules, right? Getting robbed all our lives and were arguig about how many deee they should allow us to kill. Crazy world were living in.

We don't need new regs So how many acres do you have? Quality habitat would support 50 deer per sq mile and a good sex ratio of 2 to 1 would give you about 16 male deer. Optimistically assuming that 20% of those survive to full maturity, the population includes say 3 mature bucks. They are killing three full limits every year so eclipse must own just about 1,900 acres.

I’ve always been told that on decent habitat in Alabama, 1 mature buck harvested per 250 acres would be considered a sustainable harvest goal for optimal herd dynamics and overall herd health. It’s evidently a hard concept for some to understand. Be interesting to see what he says his total owned acreage is. The math is really easy to do. It’s a microcosm for the excessive buck harvest happening all season long on small parcels all over the state, made possible only by the “bait privilege permit” to illegally bait game animals, which by the way is still illegal, unless you pay the man $$ to legally do what’s illegal.

Heck I know hunters that shoot well over the three Buck limit. They don’t care what the limit is. So how you gonna enforce any kind of limit? Do you believe Alabama on average has more game outlaws than other states? Don’t know that however I do know we have bunch of outlaws!!

He's not hurting anything with what he's killing if that's what you are hoping to imply.

I can't see anymore. Used to could blood trail a gut shot deer with a candle. Not so much nowadays. I'm a blind old fart. And I'm terrible at tracking. Thats why I like to drop em where they stand. If they dont drop where they stand they're dead within 20-50 yards. Did back slap one three years ago though he was still alive the next day when we brought in a dog. Other than that I haven't blood trailed a deer in 10+ years. What’s the secret to not having to track them? I would like for them to run about 10 yards and then pile up. I hate getting blood in my corn pile. But what I hate worse is tracking them.

I can't see anymore. Used to could blood trail a gut shot deer with a candle. Not so much nowadays. I'm a blind old fart. And I'm terrible at tracking. Thats why I like to drop em where they stand. If they dont drop where they stand they're dead within 20-50 yards. Did back slap one three years ago though he was still alive the next day when we brought in a dog. Other than that I haven't blood trailed a deer in 10+ years. What’s the secret to not having to track them? I would like for them to run about 10 yards and then pile up. I hate getting blood in my corn pile. But what I hate worse is tracking them. I’ve always shot high shoulder. Actually my favorite shot is a slight quartering to me and I put it where the neck meets the shoulder. DRT every time with both shots. The last few years I’ve been forcing myself to shoot lungs to stop destroying the front shoulders. Fortunately with the TTSXs and the Accubonds, they don’t make it very far if any at all.

Bullet through both shoulders and they aint going no where or there is a secret spot to shoot them where they just run to your side by side, jump in the back and die😉
