I may be acquiring a browning BAR 7mm rem mag fairly cheap. It’s pretty bush whooped, but a pretty solid Gun. I’d thought about sending it off to someone to have the barrel cut down to about 18”. Would accuracy be an issue?? Thoughts and opinions on having something like this done? I have 3 other Bar, they all sentimental per se, but wouldn’t mind cutting this one down to make it more efficiently in and out of truck for dogging. Who would be recommend to send it to to have it cut and crowned?

I wouldn't do it for blast and unburned powder. The big 7 needs length to shine I'm just an Internet expert ®

It won't affect accuracy but will affect velocity like the above poster said. Unless I was cutting it to put a can on id leave it as is. A short barreled 7mag is going to take loud to another level

I wouldn't flatulate around with a gas operated gun unless it had a user adjustable gas system.

You'd be turning it into a 7-08 but louder and more recoil. But if you wanna cut it then cut it. It's your gun.

Have a really good friend that acquired one just like your speaking of. Couldn't hit a bull in the a$$ with it.
Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

"Why do you ask"?
Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.

If you’re gonna suppress it, it makes sense. If not, it’s just gonna be painful.
