Yall got some guys in the social media world that trying to make a living off deer tracking, they gonna get yalls legs knocked out of from under yall in the court room if yall ain’t careful. This is not per say just Alabama but southeastern wide I guess. Lots and lots of videos on fb and other social media of deer bayed up after dark and still fairly alive. Running live deer and baying them up and then shooting them after dark, ON camera no less. This ain’t a good thing for the sport imo. 10% of the people gonna mess it up for the other 90%. It ain’t nothing to me at the end of the day, but them law breaking videos and trackers trespassing is gonna bring that to a halt before it’s said and done I think. Or it’ll make it where you have to register for tags or permits to be able to do it. Thermal drones ain’t far from putting dogs out of commission anyway. They are a highly successful tool at the end of the day for deer recovery, and can be controlled very easily. Like I said, I have no dogs in the race, and this is all just my opinion on it. But I think the road is slippery for where it’s heading for deer dog tracking.
And for the record. I’m 100% on tracking, baying and dispatching deer after dark. Rather that happen than he go dies in briar patch.

Yeah just watched a video of one getting bayed alive, that would likely fully recover. It’s at night. You’re literally broadcasting to the entire world “We are about to illegally dispatch this deer.”
I LOVE dogs for recovery. It’s changed the game on recovering deer that are dead or fatally wounded. If one fits in either of those categories I support whatever method is needed to recover. Some of these folks don’t have the sense to know what should and shouldn’t be posted on-line. It’s going to become so tightly regulated and controlled simply because ppl can’t use their brains.

Agreed it needs to be kept quiet and stop the bragging. Retrieving game is what it’s all about. Talking with a GW last year. Telling a group at a breakfast table if it’s pushed the questions ask will be easy to convince of wrong doing. Did you hunt the deer with a dog? Yes Did the tracking dog handler kill the deer?? Did the person who killed it log it in? Not shoot it to start the track…..killed the deer. Some are found still kicking. Were you hunting the deer after legal shooting hours/dark? Tough one there? It happens on a lot of late evenings kills. Did you cross lines with permission? He had a few more touch and go questions that he had if need I can’t remember them all. Hopefully never go that far but questions will pop up. I do enjoy seeing a good successful tracking story.

They’ll end up having to track on lead. I feel like the state will implement some sort of permit with an attached fee and all sorts of regulations as well. Anything they can do for an extra dollar.

Ive seen the videos I think it should be at the very least regulated. I dont know what the answer is but im all for it for finding already dead deer. Shooting one in the leg then running it 3 miles and baying it up in a creek and shooting it while its fighting the dogs is bull shit

Matt, I have typed out the exact words you did and deleted it all because some people on here was going to have their feelings hurt and I’m trying to be a better person with things like that. I also think that a good tracking dogs is one of the best tools they ever had for finding mortally wounded or dead deer that otherwise would not have been found. All that other stuff, well Matt said it best.

Y’all know this is some of the most pansy ass chit you could come up with to cry about right??..... No different to me than a poacher shooting a deer at night. No different than someone shooting a buck and giving it to another person to tag and game check. No different than someone crossing a property line without permission and shooting a deer. No different than dog hunting running their dogs on other people’s property because “ dogs can’t read property markers”. I guess you think landowner right, game laws and criminal trespassing is all pansy ass shit also? The tiniest bit of respect I had for you is gone now. True colors always shine the brightest. It’s a shame that you as a seasoned dog handler believe what these guys are doing is ok.

The biggest problem is dumb rednecks posting it on Facebook. It's a bad look when a bleeding deer is scared for its life and trying to defend itself from a dog. I realize that when you start a track you never know what you are going to end up with and things can get western really quick. Just keep it off of Facebook. It's nothing to brag about. In fact, it should really make you feel a little bad about it ending up that way.

Everything’s gotta go online or it didnt happen apparently…. Tracking deer and finishing them off is dirty work, keep it quiet and there’s not a problem.

Yeah I brought this up awhile back about the videos . Deer being shot with dogs on them or deer running from dogs with a leg flopping dont help .

Y’all know this is some of the most pansy ass chit you could come up with to cry about right??..... Nobody is crying and this is a legitimate discussion. Everything is not about you even if in your delusional narcissistic mind you think it is. If you don't like it, don't read it and move along. It's really that simple.

Unfortunately there will be a few that ruin it for all (and its a shame that people see videos and take offense to a lot of what's being done but that's the world of today). I run tracks in TN and AL and I will tell you I HATE being on lead in TN. But all it will take is the right person and the right video and Alabama laws will end up being changed. That day will suck and there will be many more coyotes fed. But hey, at least someone got to post some tiktoc videos bragging on their dog.
