Those big bass are hawgs! My largest on public waters in Alabama is 11.2, which was a laid out female. She would have been possibly 12+ full of eggs. Catch and release! When you can easily put your fist inside the fishes mouth you know you got a hoss. The one I caught headed around the boat and stayed in deep water. I just knew I lost her when she jumped. Glad I had 20lb braid on that day. What was really so memorable to me was I caught her on an old 25 year old Ugly stick rod and an old lure from over 40 years ago out of dad's old tackle box. I believe the price on the plastic lure was 11 cents. The largest I caught before that was 7lbs. The big one made the small one look like a baby bass. Just hard to describe seeing a bass that large close up! Brings back memories of the 7 pounder my dad netted for me over 40 years ago that I still have on the wall. Which for the small river the 7 pounder was just as much a record.

Biggest one I've ever weighed was a little over 5. Caught it on a 6wt fly rod in a private lake. Caught several more that day, also on a fly rod, including one that was SIGNIFICANTLY bigger, but the batteries in the scale died so I couldn't way it. I'm guessing it was 8ish, possibly a little more. The biggest one - it nearly swallowed the popper I caught it on - I was able to reach my entire hand all the way down into its mouth to dig the popper out of its throat by hand, with plenty of room to spare. Lost another (on a spinner bait) that looked like it could have swallowed the 5 pounder whole

Biggest I’ve caught was 10lbs 3oz. Caught it on a warm day in February in about 12’ of water on a 12” red shad Culprit. The day before, my dad caught one that was 10lb 1oz in about the exact location. Same fish?

I've weighed a 9-3, a 10-6, and 10-11. Caught one I think was bigger but no scale.

11 something. I was much younger when I caught it so it's hard to remember the exact weight.

Caught her on a buzzbait on Neely Henry probably 30 years ago.

Largemouth I think was 7lb 8oz
Smallmouth 6lb 12oz
Best bag was just under 29lbs all brown fish

Had a buddy with me throwing crank baits on ledges and a school came up mid day, middle of the channel. I keep a topwater on he did not. School went down before we got there but I cast and had one around 7lbs blow up a plug. He threw behind with his crank bait and half way in he said he was hung. I informed him that was impossible were in 25ft. Then he said he had a catfish. I was laughing as I boated my 7lber and said what kinda dumbarse catches a cat in a bass school. Then his fish came up. I flipped that 7lb fish and never even got a picture of it. Took measurements, weighed it, plenty of pics and released it. 9lbs 9oz. We were both kinda in shock after the release. I said dude we just had 16lbs in 2 casts! Got the info to his wife we surprised him on his B-day with a recreation mount. Couple weeks later I had a largemouth on that spit a shaky head right at the boat on a head shake. It couldn't even jump it was so big. We both agreed it looked bigger than his 9lber. I was sick, lost a double digit fish.

12.2. Caught one bigger in the Stick Marsh years ago but had to release. I caught a 10.1, 10.5, and 11.8 within a few days of each other. I had all three mounted on the same piece of driftwood.

What he said 🤣🤣

Fished what felt like forever - was probably only a few summers most every day and finally caught a 7 when i was 19 - mounted it - only fish i ever mounted

Probably 15-20 years ago i got acess to 2 awesome ponds - one in union AL and one in hugo. The one in union was the deal. I never remember not at least catching a 6 pounder when i went. I might hav to fish union for 5-8 hours - but i would catch him and may only catch 4-5 fish if that. Caught several 6 to 9 1/2 pound fish in those 2 ponds (90 plus% in union). As Ridge stated - one morning i hooked one there - not pulling hard and was not hooked good and swiming toward boat - jumped up by boat - threw the diamond shade i was using and never saw him again. His mouth looked the size of 2 1/2 gal bucket and only saw 1/2 the body but it was giant!!! The one that got away!! 🤣

I had several trips to union when i would catch 3 big fish all over 6 pounds. Now that was fun!!!

Oh - and the reason i caught all those big bass - i may be a pretty decent fisherman - but it was having an incredible pond to go to 100%

I’ve landed two 7-pounders. Both out of Lake Harding in the mid-1980s. One came off our dock and another from the boat casting a Carolina rigged motor oil worm to the bank.

10.2 Guntersville lake. Up around mud creek. Was with my uncle Jack. Yellow buzz bait that blade clacked on the lead body. All I could feel was him shaking his head real slow. Got him in and you probably heard me at bb comer bridge. Lmao 🤣

Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.
