Bought some property down Rock Spring Rd in S-SE Madison County (by PHSA). Can anyone confirm the normal rut period? I see Jan 9 on the state maps but would prefer to hear it from someone that's had boots on the ground experience.

January through early Feb is usually when I see peak rut activity. There is often a kind of mini rut in late November/ early December. I actually had a nice buck in my backyard with a doe locked down this morning.

The state map dates are the result of boots on the ground fetal studies. There’s been a pretty large sample size in Madison county. It’s pretty accurate.

Unless there's some more data somewhere......the list I have shows them only sampling one location at the Arsenal......They sampled 76 does there but that area has the potential to have a fair amount of variance occurring from one location to another within the county

Couple of members on here are in a hunting club down that way, they'd for sure know. I am not too far from you and Jan 20-23 has been peak rut for me.

I hunt the other side of that club. The 9th is about right but the 20-26th has been super good to me the past 5 or 6 years.
