We are in Mobile for the open house in the morning for my youngest daughter. The campus looks nice but it seems like it’s right in the middle of the hood. Any of y’all’s kids gone here?

I know several people whose kids have gone there. Never heard of any issues with any of the neighbors bothering the kids. It borders on the hood, but from the school back to the west (back toward I65) is a fairly good area. Know lots of people that live west of the school and they all love the area and have had very few problems

I knew some really really weird kids that went there when I was in college (a long time ago). I don’t know if they were weird, so they went there; or if they went there and came out weird.

One girl was extremely smart though and works in the same company as me. Fairly successful, but still a little odd

Lot of time schools like that are in "bad" areas because that is where the $$$ are to put up such schools.

ASMS is a good school. I’ve known some students and a few faculty over the years. They are “odd” mostly because they are brilliant but not always socialized to blend in with the masses. That neighborhood is close to Crichton but is as safe as any other part of Mobile. My neighborhood, by comparison, is worse.

I live in Mobile. Had friends and a sister graduate from there. Great school but neighborhood not so much. Neighborhood does not mess with school at all though. Entirely gated and a great place to learn. Students rarely leave campus and never alone. No one has access from outside to "just walk in". Way to many security measures.

Watch out for that dang leprechaun that comes out once a year down there in the Crichton neighborhood.

The school is not in a bad neighborhood at all, My kid goes to school right down Dauphin street from there. Plenty of bad areas here in town we’d love to show you if interested. Lol

For thirty years I've lived around the corner from the school, on Government street..there are good folks and there are not so good folks around the area... other schools and Churches every where ... I personally have never seen or heard of crimes committed against a student or the school..... it used to be the Dauphin way Baptist church which me and my brothers attended quite often when the church moved the School came to be...

Never strike out on your own from the school is what I say...if a lone student must take a Uber .... I see students all the time walking down the sidewalks of Government street in a group headed into downtown ... they look to be having fun to me.

The only person I know of that went there, left as a little boy. Came back as a young lady. Very bright but strange individual.
