I been looking for a plain ole farm tractor, no FEL, no 4wd, just a plain ole tractor, 50hp+ at the pto. That is just about imposdible to find. I would really like to find a mid 80s or newer Ford in the 4000s series, low profile, with a descent amount of hours on it. Thats even harder to find. I would settle for another brand, i guess. Nowadays, just about all the tractors for sale are 4wd with front end loaders. I just need something to pull mybig bushhogs if my Kubota was to go down again in the middle of peach season. Crazy how much the use for tractors has changed in a few decades. When i was a kid, everybody had a ford tractor and very few had front end loaders, almost none were 4wd.

I was fortunate enough to run across a person who gave me a Ford 3910 about 10 years ago. It’s a 2wd and no FEL. It came off of a sod farm with over 10,000 hours on it. I haven’t had to do anything with the motor as it keeps going. It’s only 47 horsepower and probably about 43 at the pto. It’s all I need until I’m gone. I’m just a causal user now just using it 6-8 days a year. Hopefully you can find something. I’m always looking and I can pass along information if I come by a 4000 series. They are solid tractors.

Thanks Swampmonkey. Theres one on FB marketplace right now i would buy except for the FEL and equipment with it. Its a 4630, i think. All i need is the plain ole tractor. Both my orchard bushhogs require 50hp pto, thats why i have to stay above that. Alot of tractors with that power or more are so tall i couldnt use them.in the orchard. The Ford tractors were generally a little lower and they made a low profile version, the SU model.

I know it’s a drive, but Tennessee and Kentucky seem to offer better tractor choices than central Alabama. Even on up into Illinois. And usually better equipment at a cheaper price. But down fall is going to get it or having it hauled.

I know where one is that is about to be for sale. Its an older Ford with no FIL. Not sure about model, year or PTO but I'll find out. It's in Carbon Hill. It has been owned for years by a man that was a mechanic. He is over 85 yo and told me yesterday that he is tinkering with it to get it ready for the market. It's not a looker but I'd trust what they tell me mechanically. I'll text you as soon as I get details. It may be this weekend before I talk to him.

I’m hoping to get my Ford 7600 back from the shop this week. It was the only thing my g grandad left my grandad and the clutch has been needing to be replaced for the last 15 years or so. Hope the shop doesn’t beat me up too bad on it🤞🏿

That 7600 is a hoss!
I’ve got a 1980 model 4600 that does work way above its h.p. rating. If my kids and grandkids will keep the oil and filters changed , it’ll still be working long after these newer tractors are in the salvage yard.

I know where two older tractors are for sale but not sure on HP. They aren't lookers but are older 2 wd tractors and no FEL.

Take your time, one will show up. I had a deere 830 I sold about a year ago.

If it had just a little more power yo the pto it would be what im looking for. If its not junk, it would be a really good deal for somebody

Some of the better older tractors I liked were ford 6610s. Should be around what you’re looking for if there’s any around. Easy to work on too

Van massie auctions in middle tn is always selling tractors . Some older models come off farms and they auction them . Usually based around southern middle tn . They have an app also with all the upcoming auction . Next one Nov 4 has an older ford 4100 . I think Pulaski tn . It’s all online I think .

What kind of cutter you pulling? We have a 4030 Kubota that’s only about 43 hp at the pto and it’s been used to pull a heavy 3210
Bush Hog for about 20 years. Not saying it’s the best choice for that cutter, but for clipping pastures, it’s been plenty.

I have a 10ft landpride that requires 50hp and im pretty sure thats the bottom end. My 5660 pulls it but its all it wants. I also have a 10ft offset bushhog and i believe its probably a 3210. The kubota pulls it much better and i might get away with a little less hp on it
