i could care less if the water evaporated and the sand turned to concrete. i absolutely hate that place.. give me cades cove and im one happy person

My family owned a beach house on the west end of Dauphin Island right on the gulf of America.... nearly all but lived there many times through out the four seasons.... in me and my brothers younger days we loved it ...everything about it,,,especially making a bon fire of drift wood running around chasing sand crabs at night..... walking and running up and down the beach for a mile in each direction just looking for what ever... many times throwing a quilt down a bed sheet and a pillow and sleeping to the cool breeze flowing off the gulf.
The worst things, grains of sand....keeping grains of sand from getting into your ham samich and sun burn,, sun burn, cause way back then you slathered that Coppertone lotion on with the little girl on the bottle to get cooked, there was no known threat or push to protect your skin back then.. We got so dark you'da thought we wuz doing the black face thing...
Hurricane Frederick took the house and the house property got sold... kind of miss it now,,, would have loved to have sat on the upper porch in the mornings drinking a coffee and enjoying the view and making some Vitamin D. The west end is my favorite place to go. Not the west end of the city of Dauphin Island, but the actual west end of the island. I grew up fishing, camping, and partying there. Just a short ride due south of the bayou.

When I was a senior in high school me and 2 buddies saved a mom and 2 kids caught in a rip current in Gulf Shores. We were caught in it too but they were fighting it. Luckily 2 of us had boogie boards and we got them to hold on to them. We finally made it back to shore about a mile from where we started. She hugged and kissed all over us when we got back to shore. My buddy said man I thought she was gonna kiss me on the lips! Me and the other friend said at the same time She DID kiss me on the lips!!
Then we made fun of the other guy because he was too ugly to get a kiss from the mom 🤣. It’s crazy some of the things you remember.

I haven't gotten tired of it yet. Something about toes in the sand & hearing & watching the waves roll in that relaxes me.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Sharks, sand in every hole in your body, biting flies, jellyfish, seaweed, loud kids, drunks, etc. I'll swim in my pool at home.

people put to much pressure on themselves to have fun at the beach. just keep it simple a cooler of food and motel 6 across the street and enjoy it for what it is. personally I always prefer to go to oceans over the gulf which are cheaper anyways.

I got stung by a cabbagehead jellyfish, got a terrible sunburn, got seasick and a buddy stepped on a sting ray all on the same trip. Total bullshit.

I have owned a condo in OB on a canal for almost 30 years, can count on my hand the number of times I’ve been to the beach to swim, always had a boat to get around inshore for wading, riding, eating, anchored up and offshore for fishing, all my swimming is usually done somewhere offshore with or without a scuba tank But does your wife like to go to the beach? I know she likes the outdoors so tell the truth.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I'm headed down Friday for a wedding on the beach, I'll sit on the balcony and watch it from there. This is not my choice of time to go, it's shrimpfest weekend and everything will be packed and traffic will be terrible. Haven't been in several years but I do enjoy going in late October or early November. The crowds are gone by then and the weather is nice enough to enjoy being outside. I signed up for the Army 10 miler virtual race so I have a 10 mile run mapped out through the state park trails for early Sunday morning, that will be the highlight of my trip this time.

I enjoy the beach. We go a couple of times a year, only for 3,4,5 days at a time. When I say beach I mean going to the coast. Not the actual place where the Gulf waves crash onto the shore. I rarely go to the beach beach.
My beach trips consists of sitting down at the dock or on the deck and relaxing. Take the boat to Pirates Cove and just ease around the islands and Perdido Bay. We usually eat groceries we buy at Publix. We may do a take out order, but I haven’t sat down in a restaurant in OBA in 5 years. My last sit down meal was a Moes BBQ of all places.
I still have a few beers and a Bush Whacker or 3 at the Bama or Yacht Club mid afternoon to hear some live music. Back on the boat and to the house to spend the rest of the night fishing under the lights and just relax.
Me and my 4 have done this numerous times for about a hundred dollars a head. Hard to beat!

I grew up on the beaches of Bay and Walton counties. Gravitated towards Baldwin County the last twenty years and still love the beach. I can’t imagine it not being a big part of our lives. So ya’ll stay the hell off of my beach!

Caught tons of big fish down there and chased all the local chicks around when in my 20's and practically lived down there, got over it haven't been back in 15 years. Been going to Roatan Honduras and the West Indies lately.
