I just finished listening to it and have the opposite take. What Pete said was spot on and necessary to ensure top leadership understands the goals and expectations. The military is now going to focus on wining wars. That should have always been the priority. You can’t send that out in an email and expect folks to fully understand and appreciate the situation.
Trump was Trump. He rambled some and patted himself on the back but did reenforce the message.

Nothing matters in the military other than a direct lawful order. You dont say im tired of seeing fat generals in the Pentagon. You say im issuing an order, anyone overweight in three months will be qmp.theres a big difference in those two statements. One means something the other doesn't!

Pete's just playing the game. Obama purged senior military leadership of conservatives and constitutionalists during his first term as president. Picked up the pace even more in his second term. Demtards applauded, Repubs said they couldnt do anything about it. If Hegseth just outright fired them, in today's world, the Dems and the press would go completely nuts, just like they did with the few he's already canned. By instituting an across the board physical standard, Hegseth is giving himself carte blanche to fire all of those liberal generals and senior military personnel promoted by Obama almost 20 yrs ago that are still holding command positions and desk spots. There is zero chance that most of the career brass can ever get back into good enough shape to meet the requirement. Just look at them every time you see one on TV. Overweight, completely out of shape, some wearing dresses and eyeshadow. 6 months from now, Hegseth will purge them out, just like Obama did to the real warfighters 15 years ago, in order to create spots to get people supporting his cause into command positions.

I hope they do this every quarter and make them fly Space-A or ride a bus to Quantico. It might just have been as much for everyone in the world to hear as it was for all those attending to hear, including our enemies and any American considering joing the military. I personally believe every bit of it needed to be said out loud where everyone could hear it.

That's how corporate does it. An email can be ignored. You bring their ass in for a face to face and make them fit in the uniform. Now you see who's fit and who isn't. It sends a message not only to the Zeros but also the sends a message to the rest of the military.
I'm sure they had other "meetings" while there.

You wanting to send emails is management.
Face to Face and setting standards is Leadership.
I can tell you that it may not have been welcome by the Generals but it damn sure went over well with rank and file.

I think it was a good thing, some might know a commanders call. Doesn’t matter the rank, be there, that’s what this was. To much is lost in an email or zoom call. To many other distractions as well.
It was what was needed for all, look each other in the eye.

I can understand your perspective, but when I start worrying about expenditures, I think about all of the dumb shit we use money on - especially overseas. Condoms for Uganda. Studying the impact of homosexual blowfish on their reproduction in the Pacific. Gathering these folks up to convey the seriousness of what's before us is worth a bit of end of the fiscal year burn. Better than new furniture, right?

IMO the taxpayers should be pissed about how some of our military looks (fat generals, lol) and the dumb ass training and other things have infiltrated the ranks these days - hence the need for this very public adjustment of the culture.

We laugh about the headlines and how sensationalized they can be...Its almost like Trump won and we are getting what we voted for. That fact seems lost on the left and some of the right too.
