Depends on the diameter of the rope- I prefer the Ropeman because you can let it out under tension slower- the Kong Duck is nice too but felt that it was too fast. I’ve used both as well as all different hitches with self tending and I keep going back to the ropeman. But make sure the diameter of the rope is in spec with it

Try a hitch that can be easily broke free under tension then just pull your tether or linemans rope back through the caribeener so you use it as a tender. Takes the noise making metal out of the equation. Plus it keeps your money in your pocket.

I've had them both.

I now use a kong duck on my linemans belt w/ 8mm oplux & a 5mm prusik with tender on my 8mm oplux tether.

I feel that will change after a few times of use. I felt the same way when I started but quickly realized the benefits. But this is partly because I one stick though.
