The one my grandfather had went under a barb wire fence. He would buy stuff at co-op that mixed with a few hundred gallons of water. When filled, they would force the cows through it, dipping them for fleas, flies, ticks, whatever kind of insect the cows needed treated for.

Of late, I've seen farmers walking among coraled cows with a sprayer, spraying their backs.

Back in the day, it could have been anything. I remember seeing a guy fill it with water and then a gallon of diesel.

My great uncle used pesticide mixed with water. His 40 lb cattle dog would push the lead cows through first faster than humans could. Dogs reward? Sirloin.
