I have heard people say that if you hack the bark of an oak tree it will produce more acorns in the fall because the tree responds to an injury by producing more acorns in case it dies. Anyone tried this? I did an experiment by putting down triple 13 fertilizer around the drip edge of white oaks and that fall they had so many acorns some.of the limbs were nearly touching the ground from the weight of the mast.

Never heard of such. I do believe I’ve read of at least a few multi-year studies that debunk the value fertilizer for mast production. Just from watching my own property for the last 20 years I’ve noted that on average the white oaks drop heavy about every third year. Some years little if at all. With zero input beyond nature and weather.
I suppose if your soil was really deficient in P or K then maybe, but then the trees themselves probably wouldn’t grow in the first place.
