If your around the Blount County area watch out for a dark green junk mini van. My oldest called me today to tell me someone was at my grandmother's old abandoned house at the end of the road. So I made a call to my uncle to go help out and see what they were doing. When he got there 1 woman was smoking a cigarette and told him her son worked for alabama power and was there replacing a street light days ago and saw the for sale sign in the yard. Little did she know that house and property hasn't had power on it in the past 10 years. No street light anywhere around. No for sale sign has been up there in the past 85 years at least. the son and another woman came walking back around the house and was telling my uncle they were just looking around and wanted to buy it. My uncle told them it wasn't for sale and there was never a sign and they argued for a minute about it. Finally my uncle told them best thing to do was get in the car and leave and never come back. My guess was they were looking for stuff to steal so I guess it will be high alert around here for next couple days. They had a 59 county tag.

Well that house is empty, guess they could pull the wires out of the wall and strip them. But it's real close to my back door is what iam watching out for.

If that is the case, they may not be back. We had stuff at our place and they helped themselves in the middle of the night. Just about had to have brought a trailer to get everything they got from us.

had someone try and still my 4 wheeler a couple of weeks ago. very brave idiots. they tried stealing it from my pole barn right behind my house. I live in hayden.

Had the same issue several years ago at the farm in Lauderdale co. Kids and this drunk adult 4 wheelers on a freshly plowed corn field. The adult started flapping the gums. I’m on my 4 wheeler and my BI is on his. Buddy I said leave now. Don’t you see this loaded 835 in the gun rack. Leave or the call to the sheriff has been made.

Being retired and home all the time I see a lot more than most folks. I go for walks twice a day and stay outside as much as I can. There is always somebody out sniffing. Slow rolling through neighborhoods, riding bicycles, pulled over somewhere. Both men and surprisingly lots of women. Some in nice vehicles and dressed decently. Not always your meth head stereotype. I don't talk, I don't interact, when they drive by I never make eye contact. As far as they know I'm just an old guy walking his dog. And this is during the day. But they are out there and are always looking for something to steal.

Some are regulars that are known and others are just passing thru.

Had something similar happen a few years back. Had an old house next to our property that a few meth heads had moved in and taken over. No power of water but they were staying in it. Had the Sheriffs dept out several times due to a few run ins but nothing was ever done about it. One day while I was out cleaning up their trash that they were leaving on my property two of them walked up to me and acting really strange when one pulled out a pistol but the clip fell out when he pulled it. When he bent over and picked it up he was looking down the barrel of my 40 Smith & Wesson when he stood up.Never saw them again after that and somehow or other that old house burned down shortly afterwards. Imagine that ! No problems since.
