Alfa jumped $400 on us. I called my agent and he did some stuff that put it back where it was.

State Farm took a huge hit in California fires over the past two years.
I am waiting to see what happens to ours.

Just check what he did to make sure he didn’t cut your coverage. Probably not but better safe and double check what was changed to get premium back to where it was.

Yep Alfa is unreasonably high too. Trying to keep it down over the past few yrs by dropping coverage on some things and upping deductables. They way overinsure the value of houses and contents. My new truck was actually 10k cheaper than my last one and it went way up??

I built my 1800sft house and 1200sft shop for $160,000 and Alfa insured it them for $360,000. As of now I’m paying $960 a year for coverage. It may go up when it’s time to pay again. But Alfa has done me well in my lifetime.

I've thought about just not having house insurance once it's paid off. Obviously, they know its probably not going to burn or get hit by a tornado, or they wouldn't cover hundreds of thousands for pennies on the dollar. What do yall think?

How many homes do you reckon Alfa had insured there?
