Mine just got done molting. Finally getting a couple eggs a day but not at full strength yet.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

Key to having year round eggs is to raise some mid-late summer. Once they hit the age where they start laying they’ll lay no matter what for a while. The next year the production will drop off as the days get shorter.

Ive just got back into the chicken business. Got 15 right now, 25 more coming in two months. Freedom rangers. Planning on gathering eggs and eating the chickens too. Just trying toexit the medicated food industry as much as possible. Weve grown tired of the possibility our food will make us sick or kill us

I got 60 eggs for $14 at Kroger three days ago. Might be a difference from Al to Sc. Don’t know.

I’m still getting 4-6 a day from my 9 hens. I put a timed light in their coop that gives them an extra hour or so of light. That seems to help in the winter.

May not lay today though, hawk tried to get after them and some new pullets, Cluck Norris (RIR Rooster) got after it once and ran it off. Hope it stays gone

$10 for 18 eggs will seem like a deal by the time you add the expenses of chickens up. lol
I do enjoy them though.

my nephew came over and said to throw a deer carcass in the pen and they will lay all winter, so I did and they did till they didn't, then I called him back and he said they were stressed and to remove the carcass. So I went outside and sure enough a bunch of buzzards were circling above so I removed it and sure enough they started laying again.

Get yall some chicken crack and you won't feed them anything else. They only played one here and there when they were molting but I am getting 3 a day now. Have 8 hens. In the spring I'll be overwhelmed with eggs and I give them away.

Yeah you have to build Fort Knox. I still trap coons trying to get into the coop. I made an apron out of welded wire around the coop so nothing can dig underneath it in one night.

Dig a trench and set the wire down about 4 inches in concrete.
